Dita Von Teese

The queen of burlesque spills the beans on her beauty routine!
What are your beauty bag must-haves?

I use M.A.C Fluidline eyeliner in Blacktrack and Diorshow Mascara in Black, both $52, and I have about three different shades of red lipstick going at once including Dior’s Diorific lipstick in Dolce Vita Red, $50.

I collect vintage Estee Lauder powder compacts – I search for them on eBay! I have my things I like to splurge on for sure, but usually like to keep it simple.

What makes you feel sexy?

Well-fitting, well-made lingerie that you can wear all the time so you’re ready for anything, and of course my signature fragrance (coming soon to Australia) – a mysterious floral with a touch of patchouli.

We hear you handle your own hair and make-up – is this true?

I like DIY beauty – I think it sends the important message that you don’t need a team to do it for you, just practice.

I looked at lots of pictures and favourite old photos, watched movies and taught myself how to do it.

Any essential hair products?

I don’t like being fussed over so I dye my own hair. I like Garnier Color Intense in Blue Black, $9.95.

I love the freedom of not having to make a salon appointment and saving hundreds of dollars every few weeks by doing it myself.

What are your favourite body products?

I use good old- fashioned Epsom salts in my bath with a few drops of lavender oil. It’s an inexpensive luxury.

If you could only give one beauty tip, what would it be?

I think the key is to become really good at one uniform look, stick to it and refine it to perfection – to do it quickly, easily and perfectly, every day.

Do you take any supplements to keep yourself looking and feeling great?

I take a good probiotic in the morning and I also follow the book The Beauty Detox Solution by Kimberly Snyder (Harlequin, $24.99). I drink Kimberly’s green smoothie every day without fail – I travel with my own blender!

I’ve been doing it for a year and it has really changed a lot in how my body feels and how my skin looks.

If you only had five minutes to get out the door...?

I’m the master at this! I put my hair in a quick chignon – every woman should master a French twist so you always have a good hairdo.

Then I put on a sweep of M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish in Natural, $47, and throw on my sunglasses and lipstick.

That’s my minimum – it’s easy and the red lippie makes things looks polished.

Who's the guy in the second to last photo? They make a hot couple. Thanks LittleMsSunshine for the beauty info.

thanks :flower: I'd also like to add that I love how she makes her eyebrows black. I hear so many make up artists talking about how your eyebrows shouldn't be the same colour as your hair and Dita disproves the rule ^_^

^simple and sexy, the shoes steal the show. love the blue beaded dress she wore, looks so vintage

Perfection at Versace!

And I love getting an insight into her beauty routine. Nice to hear she colours her own hair and I agree that mastering a chic and simple hairstyle is key to getting out the door quickly in the morning whilst looking put together.
