I wore them in the mid 80's day in day out for about 5 years. They were all over the place at the time coupled with straight levi's and bomber jackets. I'm so over them, I'll never wear a pair again. They're just plain ugly and not even comfortable. Why suddenly 'everyone' wants to wear them when they've been on the marketplace for such a long time is beyond my understanding. Out of topic but it reminds me how much I hate trends. Apologies for the grumpiness!

Well, coversely I absolutely relish wearing them again, but I've been wearing them quite a bit over the years and my pair are the same ones I bought in 1992, and I remember how desperately I wanted them, and it takes me back. I find the way people are wearing them now a little different really, but the fashion world is very different so I spose thats something you have to live with. I always found them great because at clubs and gigs you don't get your toes broken. Practical, and they make my chunky legs look better.

Personally, I really love Docs. I basically grew up wearing them, mostly with my school uniform to kindergarten, haha. I still have an old pair we bought about 10-15 years ago that I wear pretty often, though.

I think it's quite ironic that these are now apparently a trend, though--these basically were made by an injured soldier, bought by middle-aged working-class women, and now on the feet of either people that like them, or trend followers.

I really like those too, are those Doc Martins? What is the name of the style?

I guess i'm only used to seeing the big black chunky type, not that many people are wearing them in Australia again from what I have seen. I used to hate them with a passion, but I saw some floral ones recently on some blog and thought... how lovely! haha. Not sure if i'd actually have the bravado wear them though!

Well, they are pure leather so they should be. I've never got wet on my feet in docs at least.

The heel docs are a major faux-pas. Whoever designed them should be shipped way somewhere very very far away!

Are the patent [colored] docs more expensive than the standard leather ones???

From an editorial p.o.v. - I love to see a great doc marten paired with an evening gown. It feels very Mary-Cate Olsen mixed with a hint of Kate Moss.

It's so funny. I had tons of Doc's when I was younger. My mom would buy me a new pair every fall when school started. I aquired many many many pairs. I used to wear them with thick tights and dresses.
