Dolce & Gabbana's Couture Project

I don't understand all the hate at all. It looks incredibly beautiful to my eyes. Those big gowns at the end are to die for. I came into this thread thinking that it would be tacky but it doesn't look like it at all. I also don't mind this Sicilian aesthetic. I think they've executed it more beautifully here than they ever have in the past. Face it, this is an aesthetic they like and one that they have chosen for the brand until they maybe pick up inspiration elsewhere. To me, there are many differences from previous RTW collections, but there are also similarities because brands have aesthetics.

2 dresses and I'm already overwhelmed. This collection will be impossible to digest.

Just managed to catch up with this, and all I can say is 'why even bother'?

My thoughts exactly.

Oh, and I'm already waiting for Anna Dello Russo to show up on the street in one of the gowns in #82. Just give her few weeks.

Those gowns reminds me of the S/S 2008 collection...I can't even.

^ I copied this pic into the Photoshop Disaster thread. Ms. Jablonski has no legs. So much for attention to details...

The silhouettes and fabrics are horrid. It's very dated. I can understand what they were trying to do, but it did not quite work out unfortunately.

lol it's even worse in print cause it's just like another pic cropped and pasted it on the other photo.

i still can't believe they went and made a single supplement for this mess of a collection... using roversi nonetheless. what a waste of paper and talent.

Aside from the crinolines and Sicilain theme, I could be looking at Valentino's couture garbage. Yeah, that's how bad it is. :yuk:
However, it's not all horrible, the fabric itself is great. 80 years ago it could've been used to make curtains and beddings.
It makes me wonder about the atelier hands, I mean, those people see what they are making, for the sake of their own reputation and sanity, aren't they allowed to go quietly to Stefano/Domenico and say, 'emm, signore, did you slip in the shower and hit the sink with your head this morning? because, WTF we're supposed to be making here?'.
