The collection is really really beautiful and the work that went into it is really something. I know everyone is over the grandma cooking marinara sauce look that they've been doing the past few seasons, but it really has given them a solid identity and the collections sell well. With that being said, it wouldn't hurt if they just spice it up a bit but I see why they're continuing in that direction. Further, they have plans to really take the brand in a direction that is based solidly in it's Sicilian roots. Exciting things ahead for them.

These are customes, no Alta Moda. It can be part of the wardrobe of "Il Gatopardo" remake.

So even they themselves are embarrassed about their 'new' collection?

Beautiful pieces as usual.. but I agree with the previous posts.. very costume-ish. Its a look back into fashion (some pieces WAYYyyy back.. 1600's or 1700's lol), instead of looking forward. Kind of gets boring.

lol it's more something like ~people have to be there and experience it thing. can't remember the exact quote my friend gave me

That's exactly what I absolutely love about it, lol. And that gold dress is a work of art!

I think it's quite stupid that they keep it as a "client only" thing. I just find it slightly insulting, and I don't know why. The gold dress is beautiful though, I'll admit. But nothing else is striking. @mistress_f do you think you could ask your friend if the people who work at Dolce and Gabbana get to see pics of the show?

well it's a client thing till it's all over the couture editorials of basically every magazine in the world :D

and to be honest i think they'd cut my friends' hands if he leaked any photos (which i don't think he has anyway) lol

I was thinking that maybe on the red carpet we will see some designs but according to the quote below, that's not gonna happen, shame! :(
The Daily Telegraph and three foreign newspapers were the only media outlets invited to the show, and Domenico Dolce said he would never allow the collection to be worn on Hollywood's red carpet. "This collection is for our customers, and they do not want to see their dresses on a celebrity, in an advert, or in a magazine," he said.

But what if a celebrity is a client and wanted to wear it on the red carpet .... ? (Although I don't see anyone wearing any of this on the red carpet unless they want to end up on the worst-dressed lists.)

I am feeling a little Christian Lacroix, non ?

 a bit obsessed with Lacroix so didn't want to voice this thought - thanks Salvatore!
The very couture-shaped tulip of that gold dress with the crown and the very regal Spanish feel to it, along with the large costume jewellery, very Lacroix, IMO.
