Dress code for people who attend Fashion shows

i didnt know oriental was IN in this way!!

i just dress my own style when i go

Is it supposed to be a Burqa???

I think I'd only wear it in Afghanistan two years ago.

i think it is. i usually admire her but this is considered a faux pas to me!!

Ack! Wonder how many people she bumped into in that sheet. Maybe she was having a bad skin/hair day.

I am going to be attending a few high profile shows during Olympus Fashion Week in New York for the Fall 2004 Collections with a male friend. I just don't know what to wear. Should I dress it up or should I dress it down? My friend is thinking about wearing signature NY black: A black jacket, print t-shirt, jeans, and black shoes. If that helps, or you have any ideas for me (or him!), what should I wear? :o

1) heels in the front row are a MUST HAVE! (for a woman)

2) make sure you look chic.....not freak though. A big star/ editor dressing wacky for a show is one thing......but somebody un-known turning up avant-garde looks very fashion victim

3) smile. remember fashion shows can be extremely pretentious.....so stand out and be HAPPY.

after the show.....walk backstage where you'll see a few select people going.....pretend its the 'normal' thing to do.....and nobody will ask you for any ID

do ask 'where's the champagne' (no show would be complete without imagnums of moet ( given to the designers for free of corse ;) )

dont ask 'where's the after party' free drink is one thing......becoming a groupie is quite another (you're more likely to find out where the party is by listening to somebody else's conversations.

Thank you so very much. Now that I have my fashion show etiquette, I am well on my way!!!!!!!!!!

I'm attending the Michael Kors show, the Carolina Herrera Show, and the Luca Luca show. I worked real hard on getting tickets to Sean John, but it was a no go ;) , and thanks again!

Wow! How do you get tickets to major fashion shows? Can you just buy them or do you need to be a friend of the designer, or a celebrity, etc.? (I think it must be just so amazing to attend shows like Dior, Dolce&Gabbana; they seem so incredibly exciting!) :woot:

To be honest, I just simply wrote letters. I attended Luca Luca last season, and met a few people there, and then I just wrote letters and they called me back and gave me the information. I sudder at what it would cost to attend one of these shows!

Never wear something that was a hit (over advertised, over photographed and over worn by socialites and celebs) from the Spring collections because the people you'll be seating with will know what you wore and chances are be labelled a fashion victim. Wear something that's unknown and quiet.

Like..

Bottega Veneta
Hermes
and Vintage labels.

Also, as Sean said, heels are a must. :flower:
