Dressing to Beat the Heat

I haven't figured mine out yet...I feel like it gets messed up a bit because I leave when it's chilly and then it gets hot later in the day. So planning outfits is a task sometimes.

I'm for sure purchasing more dresses, day sweaters, and sandals than I did last summer. I think I'll do more wedges as I only have one chunky pair from way back.

For my color scheme, I will be purchasing more white (gonna have a huge dry cleaning bill too) because it looks so crisp, navy, yellow, and floral prints because they're so girly. I will still wear jeans quite a bit

I tend to stay with neutrals alot neddie, taupe and tan are nice to have at all times. My neutral pieces will consist of tan slacks, skirts, and blazers I think.

looking forward to doing the nice blazer with shorts (weekends only though - not really for the job)

I think I am wearing a lot of colours - but sophisticated colours, nothing fluoroscent.

I think I wear a lot of jeans shorts with a high waist and also jeans overalls. My clothes are going to be very grungy but at the same time they get a touch of the s/s fashion trends. A lot of 50ties stuff with cute dresses.
I plan on looking like a young girl having fun with being shy and cheeky at the same time.

I'm leaning towards a feminine look. Full floral print skirts, wedge heels, and comfortable loose fitting shirts. Color wise.. A little of everything. Soft colors here, bright colors there.. I am excited for summer. I always feel more creative this time of year.

Ooh tourist10 I  the pants. Is there a belt with them? It looks like there is a flap on the side or something hanging...seems interesting :P

Sounds lovely, Neddie. I'd love to see pictures of this... interesting colours

I know you're asking 'ladies' :P but I'm going to answer anyway
I am going to dress simple and clean like Chloé but not minimalist
and it will be all my designs ^_^ I usually wear mixes of navy and dark grey and black all year-round, and I've found colour actually looks alright on me, so I'm going to start to incorporate cobalt blue with mixes of transparent whites and blacks... The colour palette will be from a few pieces from Marni s/s '06 like light yellows with greys and muddy reds with greens and a soft black with a nice brown...
The blacks, whites will only be accents and with the greys and neutrals, it will help to break up colours because I can't wear too much colour all at the same time :P The white is also to lighten and clean things up

The look is something of a mix from uniforms (school, military etc) and mod and sportswear (racecar, soccer)... and accessories like bags that I'll wear will be the only real unusual thing since I will go all out on the design
Wonderful! The sportswear-part sounds really interesting!

I hope to be able to describe my summer-style as detailed as you do soon!

I will post some pictures of my ideas in colours and forms tomorrow

And I am sorry that I addressed my post to "Dear ladies" because men are of course just as welcome!

thanks gius and WhiteLinen!

gius, it's actually a skirt! But even in person, it is hard to tell whether it's a skirt or pants. You can imagine that it was a skirt with a giant waist, and then the strap is used to fold part of the fabric over, giving it that sort of pant look in the front

sounds like a lot of skirts and dresses for the women

I think the design sounds really cool :P tourist10 An over-sized skirt... kind of seems like a wrap

Neddie I read you're interested in design. Are you going to make your summer wardrobe too?

That's right, I am really interested in design but unfortunately I am not yet able to make my own wardrobe. I am attending a fashion academy in the Netherlands next school year so I hope I will be able to make my own wardrobe next year  Or at least part of it!

I'm thinking just light colors and NO layers. It's all about staying cool. I barely see people over the summer, anyway, so I'll be fine wearing whatever's comfortable. (Yep, I'm that lazy when I'm not out of the house!)

i want some high waisted shorts, lots of light skirts and dresses, and more color. i can't do layering, since it is VERY hot and humid here in the summer. if i were to layer it would be two very lightweight shirts. i'm starting to sew, so i want to find lots of nice fabric to make skirts with. i have already started on a black and cream striped linen one.

i'm bleaching a pair of denim shorts right now.. i find them so casual and nice.

what shoes to wear with them though?

i just bought some american apparel tshirt dresses... they are so comfortable and go with EVERYTHING! i plan on living in these haha...

I'm probably going to be my usual summer style-nice shorter skirts (no denim ones, a nicer material or a print), shorts (no Bermudas because I have big hips and thighs), and skinny tank tops. Hollister and Aeropostale are probably my biggest suppliers of the aforementioned shirts, the shorts are Soffe, and the skirts are wherever I can find them for a good price and that are short but not short like a lot of Hollister skirts. I then add fun accessories and I'm good to go.

This is when I'm not at work. At work, it's a black knee-length skirt, a white or black cap-sleeve top, and black open-toed shoes.

Sporty minimalism
Dresses
Neon colors
Shine/metalic

BUT
in the summer, it will only be pure sporty or
'beachy", because I will do lots of fitness tranning and swimming. I will relax alot!

this summer i want my style to be colourfull and happy. but i dont used to change my style so i just hope to colourfull...

Pastel colours for work but not to forget simple B&W.

For non work outfits, preppy.

It's coming to Winter in Sydney. :(

lots of basic tanks & tees in brighter colours, but also black and white ones
shorts or jeans, sometimes skirts
flowy dresses
lots of accessories
(ballet) flats and wedges

simple, but not minimalistic & girly, but not too cute
