Ed Westwick

An interview Ed did with CNN where he talks about his thoughts on how Gossip Girl should end.

There should be some behind the scenes pics today since they are (finally) staring to film the LA segments today!! :woot:

He looks like a low-rent version of his Jonny Madsen character! Which is why I'm partial to and THIS close to loving the outfit except....

~the shirt could be buttoned up (I'm not opposed to chest hair but I see Ed's all the time!)
~the belt could be less long
~the jeans could be hemmed (he's short and when he cuffs his jeans, it makes him look more stocky)

all of which makes the outfit typical Ed.

The cap and sunglasses are perfection, though.

I wonder if he was cold or just getting impatient in those pics.

Yesterday in LA!!

Even if the show isunwatchableandtotallysucksandpassesonbadmessagestoyounggirlsaboutabusivemen, the cast BTS is still so charming and adorable.

I love Ed's smile there. His gap actually enhances rather than distracts from the megawattage of that grin.

Tumblr is exploding with the new Ed/Chace/Blake filming pics.

I hadn't noticed how drastic the transformation was until now, but Boomer, you are right. Ed does look very different in his Chuck Bass wardrobe! I like Ed's real life wardrobe (50-75% of the time, anyway), but Chuck (despite Eric Damen's overly boring, not even trying anymore styling sense) is still way more dapper.

Actually, I rather wish Ed would take a few style lessons from Matthew Lewis (aka Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter movies). Even when Matthew is dressed down and very casual, he still exudes an air of polish and refinement. (Ed has said in interviews he prefers the rocker grunge style to preppy gentlemenness, but I'm sure there are ways to make the grunge look less....dirty looking. I like Ed's chest hair and even his "I don't give a damn when I'm not at an awards show about looking snappy" attitude towards fashion, but lately he has been going a bit...overboard...with it.)

The doggie is saying: "How humiliating to be seen out in public with a supposedly rich, handsome guy who looks like he buys his clothes at K Mart when he is drunk!!" :innocent:

There's so much going wrong with that pants length. Even I can see that.

^ ...and the brown wing tip dress shoes...and a pink cotton tie with blue figures tied in a (formal) Windsor Knot...and the French Cuff shirt with a collar that is too big...and the collar of the jacket that is bunched up in the back (needs collar reset/lowered to back fabric and is not ironed)...and the Prince of Wales check jacket that is too big in the chest (see: bowing lapels) and is at least 6 inches too short!!!

Has Ed-as-Chuck ever worn pants that were the proper length? Going back in the old GG threads, it seems to be an issue Eric has had since season 3, if not prior to that.

Oy, Boomer! I can't give you karma at the moment (apparently I favor you too much, because it never lets me) but you have been on a roll with your witty remarks (& great defenses of their fashion and careers) in the Duchess of Cambridge and Blake Lively topics and your always-educational menswear comments!

Which brings me to some questions: what knot should Chuck be wearing in his (presumably) casual suit? What are "bowing lapels"? how fitted should the jacket be?

Thanks for your kind comments!:flower:
One of the biggest things Eric seems to do over and over with Chuck is to mix different styles unsuccessfully...Such as, in this case, a spread collar stripped shirt with french cuffs would almost never go with a plaid sport coat...it's mixing sporty country club items with dressed up out on the town or boardroom items...A pink cotton tie would be for a very causal lunch at the yacht club sort of look, and would be paired with a point or button down collar and tied in a four-in-hand knot- a Windsor is too formal and bulky for a cotton tie (the wider the spread on the collar and the fuller the knot of the tie, the more formal it is considered to be...). To top it off the Prince of Wales plaid jacket is way too dramatic a pattern to mix with all of these (mismatched) other things, such a the brown wing tipped shoes!...The lapels pulling to the side (bowing) means the jacket is too small for his chest, they should be lying flat...
This should maybe more properly be on the GG Fashion Thread I guess...

Heading to the set, Ed- just being Ed!!

^Those look like the pictures from the Penshoppe shoot. He looks so hot B)

Love his hair like that (and the fact that his clothes fit )

Yep, those are from the Penshoppe shoot.

So, an informal poll: now that that Chuck's style has been shot to hell, and apparently isn't coming back, which do you prefer? Ed's or Chuck's?

I never thought I would say this, but I prefer Ed's style to Chuck's. Of course, nothing that Ed wears can equal the genius that was Chuck Bass's style seasons 1-3, but I'd take Ed on one of his dirty grunge days over Chuck Bass in that "Walmart" suit or most of what Chuck wore in season 4.
