Elle France October 22, 2021 : Virginie Efira by Jan Welters

It is heartbreaking to see Welters in this predicament. A photographer can't get the job done alone. As usual, Efira has nothing to offer to the camera. I have lost count of how many times Elle France has put her on the cover, with mediocre results, at best. Even VP tried and failed miserably. It. Does. Not. Work.

Classic Elle France editorial: natural better than overproduced, light-hearted, relatable. Assuming that anything with Marlijn in it can be remotely relatable, which is A LOT to assume, of course ^_^. There is something comforting in consistency. It shows that a magazine knows itself well. Also, no Condé Nast drama. Seriously. We need a break.

A bit more basic than the last issues, but still good.

I like Efira as a performer actually. I also remember her Vogue Paris cover, which was very good, but this Elle France over is just plain awful.

At this rate, Elle France would be a permanent fixture on my shopping list, if I resided in France. I'm constantly impressed with the magazine's efforts every week and I'm always able to appreciate something the cover is offering - whether it's their choice in subject, the styling or the layout.

This gets a thumbs up from me, because I'm sat here struggling to find one negative. Every single element is working and I just love that shot of Virginie Efira wearing the Tom Ford shades.
