Eurovision 2008

No one in england takes Eurovision seriously anymore, we just watch it for a laugh to be honest - Terry Wogan making fun of everyone is the best bit! All the songs and performers are just terrible, including ours, and the voting is mostly geographical. If they changed the contest so you didn't know which act was from which country and they just had a number it'd be more even, people would vote for songs, rather than the countries that are around them

^that wouldn't really work because most of the particpators are well know in their country and even if they are not international or unkown there would always be something in the internet with the whole information of location etc

...the voting is mostly geographical

Political and geographical aspects in voting are the worst things about Eurovision! There's no objectiveness at all :(
Maybe, as russian, I should have nothing to regret, 'cuz we do always get enough high places (top 15, at least), but I know our contestants have never been good performers, so if people would've been just a little smarter and had a little more taste in music we would've never won the competition

I should agree with you, unfortunately :D

...But actually Euro-2008 still remains my favourite  There were some really nice performances and amazing songs! I really liked - from what I remeber - Turkey, Switzerland, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, France & Denmark. But my absolute favourites were Israel's Boaz Mauda & Euroband, who represented Iceland  I never thought of hebrew as of such a beautiful language until I heard Boaz and lyrics from "This is My Life" of Euroband are still sometimes pop up in my memory and then skretch in my head for a whole day :p Those were two brilliant songs, imo! And it's such a shame neither have reached even top-5!
