That is an ideal that it is really old.
In europe they tought the same, but it was some centuries ago. Ladies couldn´t be tanned because that meant they worked on the fields. They used led at that time to make their skins whiter!

But i don´t buy that it´s what people will think now.
Even because you can use sun blocks to avoid the sun and there is no need after that to go and use some whitening wash/lotion, etc.

And if asians skins aren´t white after all, why use a whitening lotion?!

I'm asian and my father says it has nothing to do with looking european (but he isn't the young generation anyway) White has always been considered as beautiful (rich) and tradition is highly valued. I also don't think that the older (well after-teenagers ^^) care much for europe, it's really old tradition.

It depends on which Asians you mean, India belongs to Asia, then yes it's right, most people have dark skin. But in more northern regions (Japan) most people aren't born dark, it's more because of the sun.

The whiter you are, the richer you look *lol* maybe they use whitening lotions because they tanned from times when they didn't care about sun?

it's right with the eye stabbing thingy, but in terms of white skin western people aren't the ideal... Europeans are tanned now anyway Selftanners are as funny as whitening lotions... some lotions still contain toxic stuff...
