I just another facial yesterday- good thing too, bc I was in desperate need of it! It was unbelievable- close to 2 hours long and my skin just feels so incredible hydrated and clean. YAY! I so recommend any of you who are on the verge of getting one to GO.

Well, your face feels incredible the rest of the day, and you're not supposed to wash it, either. So it's incredibly hydrated. By the next day, you're in charge of your skin routine again, so it's not like you feel the effects of the massage still. However, the effects are definitely long-term. Getting facials regularly keeps your face in tip-top shape, and prevents scarring etc. Having a professional take care of it along with your own routine is by far the best thing you can do. So in short, yes, the effects are definitely long term. You may not feel the same sense of wellness in the next couple of days as the first day of the facial, but it's well worth it. My skin's never looked better than these last few months.

Oh, wow, thanks lostinemotion! I was planning to try out the Bliss in LA, since it seemed so popular and successful worldwide, although I was not a big fan of their products.....

What was their price range like? The fancier, boutique places I've been to in metro LA are around $200, but I must say the really effective ones are the Asian places where they whip out the lancets (sp?). It hurt like sin but I certainly never bled or scarred (physically or emotionally ) from the experience!

I've been going to the same Ethsnitician for a couple of years and I hate it when I get "too busy" to go because it really makes a difference. You cannot expect one facial to fix everything... it's a process of getting your skin in good condition so the first facial may be the worst (although I love them anyways) because there's so much debri, etc... but my facialist is good because she doesn't over do it in one visit

I went to my first facial because my skin had started to produce impurities like never before. It was a dermalogica one, and I hopesd that it really would help my skin.

I cannot say it helped. Actually, it seemed to make my skin really irritated and I got really nasty pimples. Also the lady who did the facial was really annoying one, she kept saying how SHE never had any spots on her face (like that would made me feel better dammit!) and she kept repeating pre-learned sales speech about dermalogica products. She could tell what kinds of neat stuff were put in those products, but when I asked what does that and that particular incgredient do, or how do they affect my skin, she just said "oh, you know it does really good things". Okay.

And to sum up the lousy service I got, I was not informed that I could not wear my contacts during the facial. Since it was my first one, how could I have known? I actually had to run to optician and buy liquids for my lenses so I could take them off. And there were not a single word of apology. Never going to there again.

And I did buy Dermalogica products later from the net, thay are ok though they did not made my skin better. So money wasted? Definately!

i think if your uncomfy with a certain facialist, that will just make it worse.
i def thought it would be a better experience at bliss, but it was so painful and it really should not be. i know it's ok, but this girl was popping things on my face and making me bleed. even on my chin, to this day, you can see the pink dots..just 3, but 3 too many...
when i left skin care lab, it really was glowy and clean...like all the pores were purged, but i did not have one red anything...
i got the oxy glyco rose treatment one....
naukku- you should try dr.brandt poreless, it's pricey, but comes with a lot and it really does work. i had broken out skin and this just made it so good with out overdrying, actually dewier.

2 good products to try: St Ives Medicated Abricot Scrub (for acne prone skin) & St Ives Mineral Clay Firming Mask... Very very cheap, and lasts a long long time.

I've tried numerous facial products from Chanel to Clarins, to Neutrogena, Christian Dior..($$$!). and to be honest, NOTHING worked as well as St Ives for scrubs and masks.

I do this once or twice a week:

STEP 1- Wash face with warm water. Then put on the scrub and massage on all face. I put on a semi-thick layer and leave it for 30 minutes on my face so the acne medication penetrates the skin. When I wash it off with warm water to open up pores for step two, the mask.

STEP 2- Put on the mask and leave it on for 30 minutes. That clay mask REALLY sucks up ALL the oil and dirt in your pores. When you wash it off, pores look smaller. Skin is simply glowing!

^ Thanks, Kimkhuu! I used to like the St. Ives Apricot Scrub but then heard that it was really bad for your skin, bc the beads are really abrasive, or something. Apparently, if you overused it, it could actually lead to fine lines and wrinkles sooner than normal. So I stopped. But if it works for you, with no problems, perhaps it's worth it to give it a try. Right now I'm using a rather expensive line my facialist recommended (which is great!) but I'd like a cheaper alternative, if possible.

I like Peter Thomas Roth face scrub, it's really gently with jojoba beads.
It's not abrasive or drying at all. It actually feels dewier and is more all skin types.
I used to use St.Ive's when I was a teen, but I had super good skin, that it didn't matter what I used. I wouldn't really reccommend it though if you are kind of broken out or have some issues.

Yes, leave the mask on for 30 minutes. It always says on the tube to leave it one for 10 or 20. Plbt . 30 is sooo much better. If you leave it on for an extended time, it really does work much better

Lostinemotion- where can you get the Peter Thomas Roth face scrub? And you say it actually feels dewier post-scrub? That's quite unique- I've never experienced that after using a face scrub.
