Great info, Spike 413! The Degas inspired JPG dresses reminded me of some Jean Charles de Castelbajac dresses a few seasons ago. They had some 18th century paintings printed on them, but i can't find any images...

Anyway, fashion and photography:
Dolce & Gabanna s/s 2005 rtw womens collection was inspired by the work of the late Richard Avedon (according to vogue.co.uk)

Agreed. I once had a girlfirend who had this shirt that was screened with a vintage rolling paper ad done by Alphonse Mucha. Maybe it would be more believable if the texture of the actual medium (canvas maybe?) could come out through the cloth?
You don't have a picture of that shirt, do you?

it's amazing where they can pull their inspiration from. and it actually looks like what they were inspired by. so strange. i love it.

<3 me.

Vivienne Westwood drew inspiration from the paintings of 18th century French master more than once:

Btw, Westwood's preference for Boucher makes us reconsider beauty ideals

I don't, she got it in a town in Jalisco, Mexico. I'll see if I can get a hold of her.

John Galliano for Dior haute couture a'w 05-06 was inspired, among others, by Peruvian folk art

Other influences on Galliano for the Dior centennial
"Galliano said he was inspired by how Dior's creations were reflected in the work of Irving Penn, Cecil Beaton, Lillian Bassman, Christian Berard, and René Gruau. His merry dance whirled on images of Princess Margaret, Margot Fonteyn, Zizi Jeanmaire, and Wallis Simpson. After a detour into froufrou Peruvian costume, a visit to Hollywood brought on a heavily spangled lineup of old-time supermodels giving stately impersonations of Hayworth, Dietrich, de Havilland, and Bacall" from www.style.com

The results are truly breathtaking!
