Ew.

Pete Burns must own the whole line of Sean John furs.

Haha, I don't think even he would wear Sean John. He's more of a Vivienne Westwood man..lady.

I kind of doubt that P.Diddy knows that these jackets had dog fur on them. I'm thinking this is one of those cases where the factories tell the designer they'll be making the jackets with raccoon fur, and then they just end up using dogs because it's cheaper and don't think anyone will know.

I'm not one for using fur for ANYTHING, but in this case, I can see how P.Diddy would be unaware that this was going on because this miscommunication goes on all the time between factories and the designers in China.

I knew this was going on all along. P Diddy could care less, he's like, OMG I CANT BELIEVE THIS. bullsh*t. J lo's line is also from China, she knows it, always it, and she knows how Chinese animals meet their faint and she could care less. It's horrible. Designers who source their furs from China know exactly what their doing, so they should shut the f*ck up.

would it be safe to say that most "faux" fur coming from china is probably some kind of dog fur? does this go on ALL the time, really? i am appalled also, and did not realize this may go on more than we know...

if it does, then why don't more people test the fur when it comes to the US?
and is dog fur cheaper then faux?

why do ppl need real fur???
to feel more important, to shoe that they have money???
I know, I've never understood that.
I guess that the wealthy view a fur coat as a symbol of exclusivity.

This is why bloody Peta and all the other activists shouldn't have had all the regulated European fur farms closed down. People just don't think about real outcomes. Also I can't understand how people cannot tell the real thing from the fake.

I am obviously not anti-fur but the arrogance of human beings is just becoming appalling. I feel like I am living in Sodom or something. I used to think that using fur is part of the laws of the jungle (the atrocious kill or be killed mentality), but as I slip and slide towards atheism, or at least towards an eclectic secularism, I have come to think that if we are all living, then why should our lives be worth anymore than theirs? And this includes animal testing. I used to HATE the people who campaigned against Huntingdon Life Sciences but now I just don't know.

So the lives of some animals are worth more than others? I don't agree with any kind of harvesting animals for their fur. I am vegetarian but I understand that many other people chose to eat meat. That is something that will probably never change. However harvesting animals for their fur is something that is barbaric and completely unnecessary to me. Do people need to wear a real fur coat? no. It doesn't matter to me if it's a dog or a mink that is being skinned to provide some idiot with far too much money and no taste with a fur coat. Because dogs are kept as pets the idea is that there is more of a social stigma around wearing FIDO as a coat whereas the poor old minx and fox is fair game. I don't agree with any of it.

Wearing fur isn't a necessity and people aren't eating those foxes and minks and they using the fur that is leftover, they are killed solely for their fur.

"I have come to think that if we are all living, then why should our lives be worth anymore than theirs"

Excatly. Who gives us the right to keep animals imprisoned and farm them for their fur? It boggles my mind that in this day and age that such acts of cruelty are allowed to continue.

this is sad, although it doesn't surprise me all that much. i am not against fur, although i do think the practises they use to obtain it in eastern countries is rather sad. i eat meat, i wear leather bags and shoes, and i dont have beefs with fur. it disturbs me that so many people who are against fur, dont mind downing a McDonalds hamburger in their pumas or while wearing a leather belt. this was mislableing...and i'd think a smart consumer who was against fur would know enough to be able to tell this stuff was the real deal and not their prefered synthetic counterpart.

Um... so is it Macy's fault or Diddy's?

Both. Macy's incorrectly labeled the jackets as being faux rabbit fur, and Diddy's jackets were incorrectly labeled as raccoon fur when in reality they were raccoon DOG fur.

As you know, I agree with you. But I think the closure of the fur farms are idiotic because rather than easing cruelty, they moved much of the business to the unregulated East. That is even less ideal that they previous system. We aren't going to get a Utopia where everyone will agree that wearing fur is bad and we are going to have to live within that. We live very comfortable lives in the West and because of this we have the time for education and an advanced sense of morality. Try telling someone in a third world country, where there is so much poverty, that fur is bad. They aren't wrong in their view that fur is ok, it is just a different culture.

as much as I cannot stand the man, the problem lies in China as they do not have appropiate laws against this kind of issues.

I have been working in the fashion industry for a while now and i can assure you that the fashion house comissions a factory some items and also tell them what materials to use, but it is very frequent for a Chinese factory to use whatever material they want so to maximize profits.
we used to get items back in 80% silk and 40% cotton instead of 100% silk, as they had been told. obviously the labels would bw worng as well so they only way you know is by making (very expensive) tests in case of fur or by being an expert in fabrics.

just to add, that is why high end designers whose clothes are very expensieve, prefer to use Italian -French- Spanish factories as the law in the EU is very strict.

Well, I won't watch the video ( I get sick to my stomach just watching "Animal Cops" on TV...), but I think a boycott against Mr. Diddy is in order.

Oh, Peta!

You know, the label should be sued for falsely advertising real fur as faux fur, especially since I'm sure many people would not buy something they knew to be real fur  I'm not bashing those who do wear fur, but I think this violates people's right to choose whether to wear fur or not

Macy's was at fault for that, not Sean John.

if he choose to wear it, it is his fault!!!
gosh, he was always getting on my nerves, but now... i am sure Santa will not stop by even near his house!!!

Actually Sean Combs is at fault BECAUSE he owns the label, and he contracted idiots to source cheap fur from China, the product is manufactured under the Sean John label owned by Diddy, and they have to deal with any future problems (which has just happened). The jacket was labeled Raccoon fur from China, so people should already know that is Raccoon dog (the Chinese love to rename furs to make them sound more appealing to US customers, like for example they'll flat out sell cat fur, bleach it out, re-dye it and label it as rabbit fur, have you ever seen a eBay Juicy Couture "authentic" fur hoodie...).Macy has no idea what origin the fur may actually have come from other than what it is labeled as. I'm sick of these f*cking fake designers who don't even design (Sean Combs, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce). f*ck THEM.
