Favourite Cleanser / Cleanser Recommendations

I used Cetaphil gentle cleanser and loved it, but now that it ran out I bought the Cetaphil cleanser for normal/oily skin (which is closer to my skin type) and it suuucks. It looks and smells just like liquid soap, and it feels like it's harming my face (I have a vague dried/burning sensation after I use it). And it takes forever to wash off completely. I admit that it does make my skin less oily though :innocent:

I've also used the Bliss blue face wash that has these tiny granules- it's really good. Makes my face feel very clean and fresh.

I would definitely stop using anything that burned :innocent:

My issue with Cetaphil was that it would go bad when I was about 2/3rds or so of the way thru the bottle. My derm was strongly recommending it, and when I complained about this, he was, It's so cheap, what's your problem??? Cheap or expensive, it shouldn't be going bad on me :P :hardhead:

I do not like Cetaphil. Its very stripping to the skin, and it does take forever to remove, like someone mentioned. Tip: Use a washcloth and beginning at the middle of your froehead, sweep product off gently from there, down temple and into the cheek area until you hit the nose, turn the cloth over, repeat. It is bad to keep using the same area of the cloth that is removing the cleanser from your face since there is bacteria, dirt, all kinds of environmental pollutants/deposits and so you need to keep using different areas of the cloth that are clean.

I have a HUGE pro-size Aveda Purifying Cream Cleanser if anyone's interested. PM moi.

I've been sampling the Alpha-H Triple Action Cleanser and unfortunately I'm not impressed  It's a gel cleanser but it doesn't foam. You apply it, and remove it with a damp cloth... But I don't like the feeling it gives, and it hasn't done much for my skin. Oh well. I think I'll try the Nude cleanser next. (in the meantime, sticking with Dermalogica)

ive used the green la mer gel cleanser for the past 3 years and finally made a switch to the boscia purifying cleanser with 'botanical blast' per a friends recommendation. ITS AMAZING, worlds better than the la mer and worlds cheaper too. i love it, it cleanses really well, has made my pores smaller and it actually cleans them out over a few days of use. been using it for the past 2 months, hopefully my skin will not build up a tolerance to it as i dont know what i would ever replace it with.

Anyone recommend a good, more or less natural sort of cleanser? I've always been using drug store products which in most cases work but I haven't been huge fan on the harsh chemicals in some. I've heard good things about "Mary Kay", and I do have sensitive, acne prone skin with a combo of oily-like and dryness.

Oh and nothing too expensive if possible, tia

I just went to the Lush store today because I needed a new cleanser and I wanted to try the Angels on Bare Skin one that was mentioned at the beginning of this thread. The store is pretty cool - they have face cleansers for all types of skin concerns and the ingredients are all natural. I liked that you can buy as much as fits to your budget. Not too expensive.

there is something about lush products thats makes me not trust them for the face... i would use their stuff for the body... i just feel like they're too raw to do any wonders especially if you have "sensitive, acne prone skin with a combo of oily-like and dryness"

I've used a Lush cleanser before, and it was so drying - it really ruined my skin for a while :ninja:

Thank you for that info, Belowen & tannenhauser. I always had a feeling about using that brand LUSH on my face.

I really want to try the Boscia cleanser now. Does it foam tannenhauser? And it's like ridiculously cheap-$22 or something in that price range? I didnt know they had it at Sephora, I hope the one near me carries it.

Today I went to the Shiseido counter at Bloomingdale's, and it's funny how quickly they pounce on you and act like you dont know anything. I know they arent aware that I'm an aesthetician and a 'product wh*re' (I told her that I call myself that ) but they're sooo pushy, at least she was.

I started out by saying I was contemplating between the Benefiance Creamy Cleansing Foam and the Extra-Gentle Cleansing Foam from The Skincare. I liked that the Benefiance had some granules/dissolving beads that help exfoliate, but I prefered The Skincare one more because it seemed to have no fragrance and looked like it would foam up more. She said, 'Oh the Purifying Cleansing Foam' from The Skincare had granules in it, this is after I told her I had very sensitive and dry skin, so no purifying for me, thank you.

Then she went into the 'Eudermine' lotion, which I always thought was a toner, she asked what toner I use, I said Erno Laszlo and she said this Eudermine product is more than a toner, that it preps the skin for your moisture treatment, and did I use a moisturizer? I wanted to be like, "Of course I DO!"

Anyway as we walked to ring me up, she threw in, "Need any suncare" and I said politely, "No." Long story short, she ended up giving me the wrong cleanser, some Extra-Comfort Cleansing Cream, and thankfully I was back in the store so I could go exchange it. Girlfriend was either ready for her shift to be over, or just didnt care that she was selling people the wrong product. It was an example of how I would NOT be if I was in her position.

I remember getting good results from a Shiseido cleanser a few years back. But I thought it was strange at the time that the sales assistant asked me what cleanser I was currently using (at the time it was cetaphil) and that I should continue using that before I used the Shiseido cleanser. Odd.

I've realized recently that I need a good exfoliating cleanser. My grandmother had this jar I found in her cupboard - it was a lemongrass and sugar face scrub by Suki - and since then my face has been completely clear and radiant! I guess all this time, that's what I needed! I have normal to dry skin. I ran out of the Suki, so I just but Lush's Angels on Bare Skin. Thanks Miss Zara! I've been using a sample I got of Ocean Salt scrub first and my skin is looking awesome.

Yeah, I was using the foaming cleanser from their whitening line about 3 years ago, along with the moisturizing gel, I remember my skin being so so clear. They have good products.

Oh yes I ended up with the Shiseido The Skincare Extra-Comfort Cleansing Foam, and I know I posted about it somewhere else (another thread) but I really like the amount of foam, it's thick and gentle and skin looks alive again after rinsing.

^ My friend uses that! I love it. It works very well for young skin too.

Speaking from a person who use to have pretty oily/combo skin skin its deffinantly worked wonders. I use their 'amazing face cleanser' which I purchased a few days ago and seems to be working on the pimples on my forehead because they are disapearing. And also use their 'oil free facial hydraiting serum' .. if you go to one of their stores they give you a couple of testers that usually last a week.
