Fendi Spy Bag

Hi Edna,
If this helps out any.....I used the applegard conditioner on my spy yesterday and then I sprayed it with the applegard spray today. It looks great, still the same. I was nervous at first, but it turned out just fine. I can tell you that I feel a ton better now about using it....at least it's protected.

Is the Fendi spy bag heavy at all since it looks so big? And what do you guys think of the black spy? Will it be too much of a boring color for a spy?

Hi, I have the spy in cognac and the bag itself is not heavy, I guess it depends what you plan to put in it. I love the cognac color but when I was buying my bag, there was a waitlist for the black. That's why I was able to buy mine since everyone else was waiting for the black one. Also Sak's has a preorder for the black so I think there is still alot of people who like the black one so I don't think it would be a boring color unless all your bags are black:D

Thanks bebes. Ya, I saw the preorder on Saks. That's why it's getting me all work up right now. :p I tried on a spy at the Fendi boutique a few months ago but my memory is kind of hazzy right now since it's been so long. I remember the spy didn't have any closure to it, except with the secret compartment thing hanging over the front of the bag. So is it safe to have your personal belongings inside the spy without any zipper or metal snap to hold it close? I might be anal thinking that anyone can sneak their hand inside my bag while I'm shopping or something. Thx.

i think the black is a great color! it's very secure, and not heavy at all for the size. it's mainly what you choose to put inside that will weigh you down.

i saw the white wisteria finally in the lookbook yesterday was surprised that i liked the honey wisteria better. somehow the flowers looked more organic on the honey and more constructed (almost like origami) on the white. it might just be the picture...i just don't think i would pull the plug on the white one, so i waitlisted only for the honey wisteria. it's $2850 i think...

Hi ladies - eLuxury has a bunch of new Fendi spy items online: striped denim spy hobo, Tokyo Denim Squirrel Spy Bag and the Honey Spy Satchel.

Thanks, I love that Eluxury is getting more shipments lately!
Yes, I love it too. :) The white spy and honey spy just popped up on eLuxury as well.

thanks gg!!! i'm not 100% sure about the honey wisteria, but i'm hopeful. back when i was deciding b/t the honey and petrol, i kinda lost a little enthusiasm for the solid honey. i'm hoping the flowers will make the honey look a little daintier....the honey is very loud for a neutral bag given the size...

I'm kinda with you on the color. I'm kinda biased though becuase I dont usually go for the brown/orangey/tan tones. The flowers are so pretty and dianty like you said though and I dont think the color looks as load on the wiseria spy leather. It's different from the normal spy's, right?

Fendi started out as a furrier and is celebrating its 80th birthday. To mark the occasion, the label dusted off a classic squirrel logo for its latest line of must-have handbags..I think I read somewhere else that Lagerfeld suggested that the squirrel represents longevity and resourcefulness and that's part of why he put them on the spy.

That changes my opinion somewhat. Living in the Midwest, however, I know that squirrels are just rats with more fur. Really. Now what would you say to a spy with rats on it?

Have been struggling to decide on which Spy to buy, so here I am seeking all the TFSers consul on this sleep-depriving matter . It will be my 1st Spy, hence the anxiety......

Comparatively, I'm more inclined towards the Fall '05-'06's Spys than the Spring Summer '06 ones. Within my consideration would be:
1. Hologram (from ebay, assuming it's still there, as there is none left in stores...)
2. Spring Summer '06's Rust leather Wisteria
3. Dark brown (Seen IRL. Very very nice...)
4. Cognac (Seen IRL in the satchel style. Very very nice too...)
5. Black (Think the uniqueness of the Spy design can definitely withstand the mundaneness of black :). Have yet to see this IRL. I may feel differently if I saw one....)

Personally, I do not have issues with metallic bags (being owner of a metallic red Balenciaga, Gold python silverado & Silver python silverado :) ). My bag collection consists of mostly blacks, pinks, oranges and blues. No brown bags yet...hmmm... So what would your esteem advise be, my honorable TFSers? :) :)

Cognac. The contrast between the color of the braided handles and the nappa leather is exquisite.

gg, did you notice they have the red patent flats on eluxury? (it's the ruffled front version, tho.)

Is the consensus that you condition first (the "abused" spots only, if possible) and then spray? How often to re-spray?

Sorry for the repetitive questions ... I'm scared of ruining my fave bag!

Totally agree! I didn't love the honey spy either, but the honey wisteria is a different story. You're so lucky!! I think the flowers make it exquisite!! It does calm the color down.

I used the applegard lotion conditioner first. I let it dry overnight and then I sprayed it the next day. I'm just going to keep the rubbed areas really conditioned with the lotion and lotion the whole bag once a month. I'm not sure how often to spray it?

i spray once every other month. while the bag seems to drink up the AG conditioner, the spray seems to last awhile.

legaldiva- i totally understand-- once you condition once, you will see how helpful the AG cond is to this leather. :flower:
