Fendi Spy Bag

Just wanted some oppinions... I have the cognac Spy and have yet to carry it. I love the color, but have some concerns about the fading mentioned on this thread- I think I would like the vintage look, but I am not sure. I hate to pay so much for the bag then have it look like it's defective. Anyway, I was condsidering trading it for the honey color. The pic on Saks.com liiks very orange, but the pic just posted recently on here looks like a great color! Which do you all prefer, and which do you think could be worn with more? TIA!:D

have you considered the dark brown? that's my fave brown color. then it's honey. my least fave is the cognac, but that's just me.

^ I agree with positano! The dark brown looks so rich and gorgeous and luscious! :woot: However, the Honey is a close second. I was never one for the cognac either. Hmm, now I am wanting a dark brown! But I must...wait...for F/W colors!

Flippa - definitely ask for Jessica when you call! She helped me with selecting my Honey and was very sweet and patient when I bothered her and asked a million questions about the texturing, etc.

Okay, I was wondering... a few posts back I mentioned that the edge of the opening of my Honey is peelign just a teeny bit fromt he hardware of the flap rubbing on it. Do you think there is something I can put on it to sort of "seal" it so it won't continue to peel? I was thinking I'd brush just a teeeny bit of clear nail polish on it (...), but I don't know how that would affect the leather.

my mother has the dark brown (chocolate) one, and i absolutely love it. although i do like the cognac, many sa's have warned me about the fading.

condition the spots everyday if you must-- just don't let them fade or it will be hard to get back.

it absolutely has to do w/ humidity now that i have travelled thru 4 continents w/ my spy. i'm convinced after a few months of observation that my spy leather requires exactly the same treatment as my skin. hardly moisturize (substitute condition) in asia, etc., a little more in australia, some in europe, and a massive amount in US where the heater is always sucking the moisture out of the bag. please do not use nail polish on it!!!

Thanks for your tip, positano! Nail polish...I don't know what I was thinking.

teiko - Is that your Honey? It is gorgggeous! Beautiful texturing! :flower: Question: how come some Spys come with the handles wrapped in plastic? Does that mean it is absolutely brand new and mine was on display or soemthing? Both of my Spys came without plastic.

Yup:) I finally got to own a spy after 8 months of waiting. The Fendi people really mucked up in my country:angry:

Actually, my spy came without the yellow Fendi Box and when the SA brought it to me out of the store, it was in a very huge, clear plastic bag. The dust bag was folded up and placed nicely in the spy. But what's nice is that the SA actually asked me if I wanted to keep the stuffings. To which I promptly gave a positive reply.

I just got an e-mail from Bellagio in Vegas...
Darko is the store manager there too

Hi Ladies. My name is Tanya and I've been reading this blog since November now and wanting to post for ages, but every time I've tried to register I'm not sent the link to get in the first time. Weird, huh? Anyway, my friend, Lizziechic, has been gracious enough to allow me to use her username for the time being.

I felt moved to respond to your postings regarding Darko at the Las Vegas stores. I have also had such *awful* service from him! Promises of pics being sent to my e-mail that never came over the course of 3 days. I finally called him and got him in the middle of a staff meeting. He was so arrogant towards me! And I swear two of the female SAs I spoke to there didn't know how to formulate an e-mail address (not knowing what an "@" was, etc.) It's unfortunate, as I would have bought from them!

I also wanted to respond to the questions regarding the HOLOGRAM Spy. I've had mine since December and I LOVE it. It keeps getting better with age/wear. I read someone say to beware of the FORTUNY (laser-cut) leather -- not true! This is the one Spy that I feel great about taking out in the rain or snow (I live in Boston)! The feel of the leather is very smooth on the spots where the laser cuts haven't separated, and the areas where the turquoise is showing through feels kind of like 'feathers' - hard to describe. It is a fantastic bag, though!

I also own the Taupe/Purple (the one Liv Tyler has) and it's amazing. The lizard-y leather is shiny and soft and very luxurious. I also have a black and a cognac on the way, too! I'm actually really looking forward to seeing how the Cognac wears. I'll check back in once I receive it.

Thanks to everyone who posts to this blog -- you are truly the experts and I've learned so much from you. Now I am addicted, too!

lizziechic...Welcome to TFS! Thanks for sharing the info on your Spys. Great choices you have! Looks like Spy family is growing fabulously!

legaldiva...HONEY!!! :)

Oh, I forgot to ask: why honey over cognac? I've only seen the cognac in person (I have one), and the honey on the saks website looks so yellow.

Can anyone describe what the differences are in real life? Also, is one better for all year round, or just seasonal (winter vs. summer)?

Thank you!!!

Hi, I'm with the Cognac. I returned the Chocolate to get the Cognac. I have light hair and the Cognac looked better on me. I don't look good in black at all and the chocolate was so close to being almost an off-black it was too dark for me. I saw the honey in person and I wasen't joy-jumping over it. I could have saw a bad bag but it looked very orangey to me. Closer to orange than brown . They put a finish on the Cognac now, so while it will get antiqued it's not going to be as bad as the first batches that came out. If it gets real bad I bought mine at Neiman Marcus and they have a great return policy .

That is exactly what I wanted to know: whether the Honey was too orange. Thank you!

No offence to anyone here but it was really stuffed and kinda reminded me of a basketball with a handle.

If someone is looking for chocolate. I just returned one to bluefly. It had almost no texture to it ( that's why I returned). So keep an eye out from Tuesday on if your interested.
