future trends for less during sales

All the good things have been listed..I feel that sales are also a good time to pick up basics at a good price..cashmere sweaters for next F/W, tanks, wedge heels (for summer!) and well, black is basically seasonless....

Oh and a nicely-made pair of boots in a more classical styling (no furry ones, wedge heels!) should serve you well into next F/W and beyond..

sales is always a good time for me to check out MMM and all the $$ designer houses i never have the money to buy from under normal circumstances

this sounds more like ashopping thread to me......

It sound silly, perhaps, but I've never thought of shopping for future trends during sales! What a great idea. I've always thought of sales as a store's way of getting rid of outdated items... but so many can be used for a new season. During sales I mostly buy very classic pieces -- cashmere sweaters, etc. But this sale season I will keep my eye out for what might be hot in spring!

I miss England so much. I want a pair of black patent ballet flats so bad.

And a mod dress just to amuse myself with. I wish I was good at retro/vintage shopping haha.

Even though I was advised against it from the Yay or Nay thread, I went ahead and bought two BR bracelets that I saw a while ago that were on sale. ;) Yaaaay. They're bold and weird... which is why I liked them in the first place.

cute flats Luna..

if one knows what will be 'hot' for spring its totally safe to invest during sales, or just to avoid things destined to fall out of grace, eg victorian boots or converse

I was doing this exact thing today...at the new Harvey Nichs in Hong Kong. Primarily on the lookout for white puffy sleeved blouses or puffy skirts...problem was my eye kept being drawn to the 'new season' racks in all their ss06 splendour!!

The sales started here yesterday...I made the mistake of going. I shouldn't have really as it was far too crowded for my liking. I am sure there were plenty of great bargains to be had if you had the energy to push yourself forward through the throngs of people.

I wanted to buy some Blahniks or Prada boots however 36 is possibly the most popular size here in France so there was nothing left for the sales. A Prada cardigan would have been fab too but again none in my size left even before the sales so no luck there.

In the end I bought a bra!!! - Not a trend but a necessity anyways. Christian Dior bras are the only ones that fit me properly and I almost always get them in the sale far too expensive otherwise!!!

I adore Navy like many of you too but find navy jackets, coats, cashmere almost impossible to come by sale or no.

^^ Wow... It's totally not like tha there..... Here all of the awesome shoes are in the smaller sizes at the sales... but nooo size 8's.

How to splash out and be savvy
(Filed: 28/12/2005) Wise shoppers will go for next year's trends - white and wholesome - as well as cashmere and sheepskin, says Clare Coulson
Before tackling the chaos of the high-street sales, it makes sense to devise a game plan; doing a recce beforehand will help you to avoid wasting hours trying to find what you want in crowded stores.

Silk dress, £45, (£90), French Connection and Phoebe bag, £416 (£595), MulberryThis is especially true if you are shopping for clothes and accessories. When you are battling thousands of other women on the busiest shopping day of the year, there's no room for indecision.
It's also worthwhile to look ahead a little, and think about what you will want to wear for the rest of the winter and into spring.
Since we have been warned to brace ourselves for an icy winter, anything cosy is a wise buy. Clothes that are usually out of reach - such as indulgent sheepskin and chunky cashmeres - are really worth splashing out on as they will last for years.
For a more affordable option to a sheepskin coat, look out for a sheepskin gilet - there are many on the high street, despite being one of last year's trends.
Marks & Spencer's Limited Collection has versions in purple, dark green and blond, while its Autograph range has cream sheepskin jackets, which are even more cosy (reductions from 20 per cent; 0845 302 1234).
If you can bear to gamble, it's also probably worth waiting for even bigger reductions with expensive pieces like these. However, the really savvy shoppers will be looking ahead to next year's trends.
Here, then, are a few pointers on what to look out for, and the themes that will define fashion next year.
Strong silhouettes
Bell sleeves, tulip skirts and strong, A-line silhouettes will all be key shapes next spring,
and are all worth investing in. Look for anything with a clean, Sixties-style silhouette; it is one of the more avant-garde trends for next year, but one that will give you an instant update.
White
Just as they persuaded us to return to black, designers have decreed that white is the colour for spring. Focus on interesting textures and wispy, fine fabrics; light voiles, broderie anglaise, delicate lace and crochet.

Bows and frills
Although minimalism is set to return, there are still bows, ruffles and frills aplenty for next summer. Look out for coquettish skirts with bows, or ruffle-front blouses with a froufrou Baroque-feel.
French Connection's silk shirt-dress with a frill front is simple, sexy and sums up the mood (reductions of up to 50 per cent; 020 7036 7200).

Blazers
Marc Jacobs is a reliable predictor of trends and, for spring, he focused on a wholesome, American preppy look, which is bound to take off. Blazers, clean, crisp masculine shirts, and slouchy trousers form the foundation of the look.
Colours
Nudes, soft, dusty pinks, chocolate and other warm neutrals are all good colours to invest in. But there are also plenty of eye-popping Pop-inspired colours around for next spring, too.

you're welcome saann...
thx for the karma...:flower:...

Great idea Lena. :flower: Recently, I have been planning ahead for what I want instead of thinking at the last moment when I actually need or want something.
Officially obsessed with flats, so I'm on the lookout for a pair of good ballet flats and whatever I can get my hands on.
I've recently stocked up on a bunch of silk scarves, planning to tie them into cute bows to dress up some plain tops.
But I've always got my eye out for good jeans and coats/jackets. ;)

you are very welcome lovemyboots..
still no time to go future trend shopping here.. :ninja:

i have found the sales abyssmal and bleak...
nothing left but dribs and drabs that no one would want ...
now or later....:yuk:...

maybe i just have everything i need already...
:ermm:...
