GAP - what are your opinions??

I knew that Gap and BR and Old Navy were apart of the same family and i think its great.Because i see it as BR being a little more upscale and Gap affordable cute clothes and Old Navy even more affordable and i shop at all three and love them all.Im sure there maybe more stores linked together like that i dont see any problem with that.

They are getting trendier, all this hoodie talk makes me get the stange urge to get one. DOH!

I can't stand GAP! I won't support for companies such as GAP who abuse child labour! As well as WAL-MART!!!

well... what is GAP? I believe it really fills the "GAP" between fashion and function. But do I like it? Nope! Even though, sometimes they create some nice stuff, most of the times, every single collection looks like a cheap (low-quality) copy of last season's fashion trends... in other words, I would not like somebody see me with a GAP logo on my shirt ;)

Good piont!
We are so caught up on fashion that we forget that children are being exploited to make the rich richer...so sad
That is why people should spend their money on experiences not materials as my qoute says...

I really hate that these designers have children making these clothes that we wear its so sad.And they are very under paid if paid at all.

that's a wonderful quote!:flower:

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned hear already, but there's a rumor that Phoebe Philo will be designing a line for Gap soon...you can read about it in The Purse Forum's sub-forum for CHLOE.

I agree that the quality has gone down...years ago, a shirt or sweater from the Gap lasted forever...lately I have bought sweaters that pill like crazy after one wear so that I don't know what to do with them afterwards...If I were to return it, Gap would think I abused it, and there's no way I can wear it either--looks too old or worn! I do like getting my boys Gap clothes...as the children's and baby's lines still do seem more durable than many other brands for kids out there...

if we were going to be concerned about child explotation ( which it is important ) we would have almost no choice on what to wear... so whatever.

I get GAP stuff when it goes on for $4.99 or when I really need a basic. that's it. Its not worth it at all.

Doesn't H&M also do child labor?

But anyhoo, its not like I don't like the clothes from GAP, its just that if I were to wear their clothes, not only will everyone else and their mother have the same items of clothing but GAP doesn't make anything that says "wow, I LOVE that jacket"

Gap admits to child labour violations in outsource factories

[/FONT] The Gap yesterday admitted to widespread problems - from unsafe machinery to child labour violations - in the thousands of factories it uses around the world to produce clothing for its retail chains. Seeking to combat its image as a sweatshop operation, the company detailed the findings in its first social responsibility report. The full 42-page document is available on the website, gapinc.com
The Gap said it has a team of more than 90 compliance officers who conducted about 8,500 factory visits last year. The company produces garments in 3,000 factories located in 50 countries.

I hope the money I used to buy a (REd) shirt goes to the Africa fund and not go the Gap company itself.

dlg

There's GAP now in the Philippines - where the clothes are mostly made. :D

i used to love Gap but now they've just become so boring, clothes are horrible and so is the fabric. i feel like their clothes fit better on thicker people and they just dont have good marketing skills

is it just me or does it seam that Gap comes out with the same things over and over but just in different patterns?

They sure do. Even though I don't shop at gap I purchased a gap turtle neck sweater from their 2002 fall/winter collection and honestly I can't tell the difference between this and their recent stuff. Gap is just for basic wear.

I really feel bad about the sweatshop thing well not the sweatshop itself but how poorly the workers are treated.

I really like Gap for staple pieces, they fit me really well and aren't too expensive.
