Geek Glasses

i saw it first on a runway naomi campbell opened for givenchy (i believe?) about 2 years ago? i actually really like this trend, if the glasses suit your facial structure. sometimes it can look really childish?

I like this trend, but it's everywhere in Singapore now, so I'm thinking i will stay away from it. I am looking for a pair of nerd specs in the shape of cat eyes though. Those would totally rock!

i've been wearing them since i was 13. that's 23 years ago LOL i'm still wearing them today. i find metal frames make me look really school-marmish. i've been seeing them a lot around lately but i think most if not all, need them. i remember reading somewhere that the population of Singapore ranked the highest in the world when it comes to myopia (short sighted).

nymphinblack, check out Paris Miki, i saw a few cat-eyed ones.

Haha...I haven't notice it was a trend yet on the street, but I do not get out much.

So Now my eye wear is in fashion...WooHoo. I bought a pair of Alain Mikli's that I am in love with!!! Very librarian lady.
Though I do not wear them just to wear glasses, I actually need them because I cant see without them. Does that count?

I think this is a good trend in frame shapes. I don't wear glasses but I hated hated hated that elongated rectangle trend. Like if I wore glasses, I would be sad mad b/c that is literally the only style sold in many eyeglass shops. Great if it looks good on you, but what if it doesn't? This Geek shape I love though! One of my friends wears these and I borrowed them for a picture just for fun and I LOVE that picture. My dad got new frames and chose this geek style in black and he is a 56 y.o. actual geek too, like he's a geek for a living and in his spare time too. They look good on him though! Maybe b/c they are actually in style for once and he's always worn someting similar to that shape.

Ive got a gorgeous pair of Calvin Kleins that fit into this category. I love how these type of glasses can instantly transform your look or outfit! Though you do need confidence to be able to pull them off.

Ive seen a lot of rap/hip hop artists going for this look recently. I remember Jay-Z was on the Jonathan Ross show a while back and he had the whole glasses thing going on.

I saw this girl at Bryant Park rockin the oversized geek glasses. She was a model casting director.

Hair pulled back tightly into an oversized bun on top of her head. Black, open back, form fitting dress, and chunky balenciaga high heels. Red lips and attitude.

She could pull it off but I don't think I could.

I just got a pair of vintage Shuron Freeways! I've been wearing them around the house, they are so cute! But I have to still take them to get the Rx lenses put in.

I just realized everybody is wearing those glasses, everywhere :innocent: Which makes them look like a trend wave to me :yuk:
I don't want to say they look bad but it's just you see them everywhere! Too much :yuk:

I quite like this, but as others said, only on specific people... Nearly all the people I've seen wearing this end up coming across as desperate hipsters. I suppose it takes a certain kind of face to be able to wear them without looking exaggerated or ridiculous.

I have it in the back of my mind to get a vintage pair of thick horn-rim glasses and get lenses put in, if I find that I look good in these... I suppose it's a good reason to finally get my eyes tested again, after not wearing my glasses for years :p

So people have been asking me about my glasses so I took some pictures and included the photo from lenscrafters of the frames I have. They are D&G. I think that the first thing my mom said when I showed up was "Did you steal elvis costello's glasses?" qualifies them as geek glasses:lol:. I love them and they are prescription so I dont feel super trendy wearing them.
