Gucci S/S 2012 Milan

loved the dresses on snejana, anja and joan also a handful of the jackets but overall didn't really do much for me imho.

As a moderator, I should delete half of the post (no model talk). But to be perfectly honest, what annoys me to no end, is that, as 7 + year member, I dont get how most people just assume EVERYONE knows the models by their names, so whenever I find this posts, its utterly frustrating I can not discuss it because I have no idea what people are talking about!!!!

Now keeping this on topic. Same old Frida. It looks like new version of old stuff. Some nice pieces, but nothing exciting imho.

I don't see anything retrospective about this collection. I think Tom Ford and Ralph Lauren are infinitely more literal in their design aesthetic than Frida, particularly in this collection if we are talking about the 1920's. This is completely modern and inherently Italian.

Besides, why do so many critics, professional and otherwise, praise other designers on their quality and craftsmanship but systematically reduce Gucci / Frida to the mere visuals? I'm sorry but I find this to be so unreasonable and so biased. We really need to let go of this kind of one-dimensional critique. Its rather embarrassing actually.

I find the quality and craftsmanship here to be superior. The tailoring, the construction of the dresses, the embellishment, the detailing on the jackets, the finishes on the pants / dresses, etc etc. Everything is so simple yet so luxurious. The accessories are also particularly strong. The bags in python with gold hardware, the shoes in gold with croc. Everything was subtlety luxe and made the clothes look really expensive and modern.

totally agree

Gucci is doing better than other Italian labels this season, I finally say that.

Was never attracted to Gucci, but it was very SHARP (the gold, white and black with emerald....deadly combo).

i think it's interesting that this collection is so polarizing...

people in here seem to either love it or hate it...
and are maybe a bit surprised by their reaction to it?

i'm not typically a gucci kind of girl but i actually liked a lot of this and thought it was a great collection for gucci
granted, i haven't studied every single look, but that was my gut reaction and a lot of these dresses look like something that a lot of women would be clamoring to wear imo

I LOVED the architectural aspect and the art deco side, but I wish Frida could have used a different color swatch then sticking to her beloved green. And the dresses are DEFINITELY gonna be big on the red carpet.

Some photos from a Press Preview. The details are extraordinary!
