Gucci S/S 2012 Milan

The more I look at it, the more I love it. It's all that I would imagine a high fashion, luxury brand would be. Incredibly well made, rich, beautiful, chic, sophisticated and original without being gimmicky or pretentious. This era has served as inspiration to so many collections, yet Frida finds a way to present it in such a fresh way. Bravo.

I kind of like everything but there's nothing that I really like. It's a bit limited.

The 1920's cuts are almost always good, but the 1980s recall? Not so much. Not these 1980s.

im pretty sure magazines everywhere will be loaded with those safari dresses.

It's more of a pass than a fail for me. It's typical Gucci with wearable pieces but with some sort of luxurious "feel". (Basically shiny blouses and pants and some gold added in there). The lined prints are nice but ehh... I'm not falling for them like crazy.

Overall its a nice collection, I like the 1920's influences for the finale dresses but they all look the same, in 2 months or so I'll remember the overall feel of them but not each individually.

7/10

Hmmmm... I'm trying to see it but I'm not. I find this tacky and too harsh. I loved the color combos in the last two Gucci collections but the gold with the green and black is too much for me. I feel we definitely need something to tone all this decadence down. The way it was presented it looks like a botoxed stuck-up diva without personality to me.

Love the collection! Very 1920s with all the sequin and the golden details. Very different and unexpected imo

now where would a guy find this picture :angel:

not flattering at all. If they had Inverted the Black and white, it would have made EVERYONE who wh*re this look slimmer...

'Dem Da Rulez!':innocent:

Frida still can't design a flattering pair of pants to safe her life it seems...

some of those cropped jackets are vile, others are quite alright. the dresses are all nice, definitely stuff people can wear. and i guess it'll be a huge success, mostly due to what Squizz said, everyone can really wear those dresses and look good.

but none of this really looks 'GUCCI'. nothing to really go 'OOOHHH' and 'AAAHHH' about.

it's pleasant, but so is regular ice cream. when i think Gucci, i want ice cream made with the freshest, creamiest of creams, intensely flavored vanilla from privately grown and well cared for vanilla orchids, the best organic eggs money can buy and sweetened with the goddamn nectar of a whole field of flowers! (like that field in the Flora commercial)

, yeah it was a bit big and the backview is unflattering
I would argue otherwise. It would be out of character for me to accept anything smaller. Too bad when the dress comes off her backside turns into flat mush...

I actually really like this collection. Feel like its better than the last two seasons which funnily enough used more colours.

This definitely doesn't all work, but it works well enough and the art deco/flapper style pays off handsomely. The least effective pieces are the heavily printed tops and the slightly unflattering cut of the trousers, but the bolero jackets and the loose finale dresses are right on the money. The detail is amazing too and the shoes towards the end with the almost bracelet like straps will surely become the must have of the season.
A totally cohesive collection, perfectly representing the brand.
One minor glitch.....I'm all up for dark, smoky eyes, but the panda look is a little too far here.
