I love the way my dog smells! He doesn't have that dog odor, but he does have a distinct scent -- and I adore it! I can tell when he's been sleeping in my bed because I can always smell him. I also love the way his paws smell. I'm forever sniffing them (that sounds kinda wrong, doesn't it? Definitely a guilty scent).

The smell of a new Barbie Dolls
The smell coming from the ground on warm summer days

cucumber

celery

chlorine dried onto skin (thanks in large part to heartbreaking ex)

Wow! i'm sooo loving all of these responses! i think cats paws smell like corn chips too - when i had a cat i was always sniffing his paws (er... not when he came out of the litter box though). Thanks 'purplelucrezia' for sharing about your childhood keepsakes. Glad to see other book sniffers. Hey 'As you like it' - glad to see you also dig Coty Wild Musk. And Trendsetter - i know what you mean about Barbie dolls. They do/did have a certain smell about them.
:P

Okay so here's another one of my odd ones.... this is going to sound strange but...

i like the smell of white skin tanning.

^_^ weird weird i know.. would this be some funky reverse racial remark?

Let me explain a bit more: i'm a brown gal (caramel coloured) and in summer after about 3mins of intense sun exposure i go one shade darker. i can go 6 shades darker before i even get a semblance of a burn. i don't have a particular scent when i get browner (mind you, we can't smell ourselves) and when i lived in the Caribbean, none of the natives had that particular scent.

There's something about white skin - when it tans (even without any lotion whatsoever) - without sweat - gives off a gorgeous warm scent - that's almost musky - a bit salty smelling - just incredible and sensual.

My hubs is Persian but is very very fair - people always think he's French/Brit - so he's basically white in colour (w/ pink undertones). When his skin is exposed to the sun (he avoids summer sun b/c he burns) - i keep smelling him - especially the back of the neck - so bloody gorgeous.

His brother isn't naturally fair - he's almost as dark as i am, and he definitely doesn't give off any of that gorgeous scent when he gets darker (hey! i don't go around doing any funny stuff w/ my brother-in-law okay :yuk:).

It's not my hubs particular scent - it's the same sort of scent i get from friends
(white) and even strangers (white again) - in the height of summer - or if we're in a hot country. It's not the smell of sweat either. i think it's stronger on men though.

What do you think of this?

Although I've never noticed this phenomenon myself... I'm a pale part-Persian and I take it as a compliment ^_^ :P
