Hedi Slimane - Designer

I read somewhere that he makes around 10 million euros a month from Celine — is that actually true for a CD? If it is, I’m pretty sure no one else would ever pay him that much again.

It’s false…
More like a year, without bonuses and royalties.

I had a good laugh when it came by on my feed, very very petty. Hes a great art director, wish he had the courage and resources to do his own brand. But it aint easy building a brand from scratch.

What will be his next move? I can't see him do anything else, I really wouldn't want him at Armani. He should have stayed put at Celine and really pushed it even harder and develop the women's into a more serious endeavour.

I don’t think 'skills' are the reason he isn’t designing for a house right now - With the full support of the Arnauds, it seems rather unlikely Celine gave him the boot, as he fulfilled their task of revenue growth, even with a very selective PR strategy.

I think he’s a limited womenswear designer even if his last two Celine womenswear collections were really good. In the end I think it was great for him that his Celine womenswear really did have an impact. He could’ve gone further with what he was showing before he left but alas I don’t know why he left when everything’s been handed to him. Maybe the prospect of going to Chanel? It seems that he’s frustrated that the only job he wants didn’t go to him, it felt like his Celine tenure was a warm up.

You just cannot do Hedi Slimane without serious investments. Not to the standard he wants. He priced himself out. The only houses that could afford him just became recently filled.

Collectively though I think we need a break from him. It’s just weird for me if his career ends in Celine.

I need to see a Hedi Slimane focus his energy on getting back to Christian Dior and doing both womens and mens. Blazy isnt going anywhere Im afraid.
Agreed.
the suits have convinced Blazy to cut the number of panels on jackets from 8 to 6 and use more viscose and other cheaper material.
He is a corporate man now. Heidi would have said hell no.

I wish Kering goes broke and has to sell YSL Fashion to L'Oréal so Hedi would have full YSL, RTW, beauty and couture.
Dior is a bit lame and girly for him.

His ego seems insufferable and he seems rather more petty, more insecure, more of a brat, in his older age, sadly. Does he really believe that they took the composition of the back of someone’s head from him LMFAO

I instantly saw Magritte. Then Albert Watson’s famous shot of the back of Mike Tyson’s head. DIdn’t think for one hot instant of Hedi’s imagery. And I stan Hedi.

Just put in the blood/sweat/tears— with the generous backings of the Arnaults, and start your own label. It will be a phenomenal success. Fcuk all these old houses.

Sadly, 'insecure and petty' describe it pretty well.
A bit of drama is fine but imagine Phoebe Philo starting an Instagram account to call out everyone who’s ever copied her. She’d need a full-time assistant just to keep up, and we’d never hear the end of it.

The truth is, he didn’t get the two most coveted jobs in fashion (Dior and Chanel), was passed over for Gucci, and now even his old house seems to be doing just fine without him. Michael Rider’s Celine isn’t exactly being hated, and that must sting.

Still, when you’ve already made millions and cemented your place in fashion history, maybe it’s better to log off and let the work speak for itself.

Don't forget Dorothea McGowan by Avedon in 1963, funnily enough wearing a hat by Marc Bohan for Dior:

If Hedi wants to be bitter about the current state of fashion on the internet then he should do what the rest of us do...get a tFS account, Hedi!
