Hedi Slimane exits Saint Laurent; Anthony Vaccarello hired

Vaccarello is a horrible choice. They need to hire Decarnin! This is tragic.

I liked what Hedi did at Saint Laurent. Not from the beginning but last year collections and f/w 16 were good.
I can't imagine Vaccarello in Saint Laurent. It will be the end of the YSL House. Vaccarello is not fit for Saint Laurent. I liked only one of his collections -Versus F/W 14-15 was not bad but the rest is horror, the collections which he does for Versus and for his eponymous brand are repetitive, every collection is similar. Slimane and Vaccarello hasn't similar design art. Vaccarello women is IT girl who wears mini skirt ,sexy. But it was not Slimane's YSL woman. Maybe something Looks similar but Vaccarello could be fit for "todays" Versace but not for YSL.
I can't imagine him designing for YSL.

Where will go Slimane?
Maybe one day, in future, in Chanel but not now. Karl maybe 82 years old but it doesn't mean that he will now leave his place for Slimane.

Who can imagine Slimane at the helm of Dior?
It could be surpise...

I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a thread tomorrow "Karl Lagerfeld is leaving Chanel to focuse more on photography, in discussions for his succession are Elie Saab and Alexander Wang"

I mean what is going on in Fashion? Raf, Alber... Now Hedi...

For YSL I just hope they will hire someone who has the tradition of the Label in mind or at least designs on the same Level as Hedi, so definetly not Anthony...

4 years of one looooooooooong collection. I'm glad he's leaving, i think he's an interesting designer, but should never be hired by any fashion house. What he did for Saint Laurent would be exactly what he would do if he had his own label, and that's simply not enough. Sometimes going through the archives and copying clothes from a certain era, even if that era belongs to Saint Laurent, is not working in the spirit of house Hedi!
I hope he does go at it alone, though.

I do not think Vacarello can be worse than Hedi to be honest, Hedi is the man that put on the catwalk dresses inspired by Zara circa 1991.

Vaccarello? Really??? This is like a reality show of how to f*ck up the image (even more) of a fashion house lol. If this happens, I'm going to kind of miss Hedi. I have to admit that his men's collection were on point. I'm going to also miss all the bands that played at the shows haha. The atmosphere was always really cool.

I want the new designer to change the name into Yves Saint Laurent

because it's April Fools' Day

Really, I hope it's a joke because Hedi was so good, his LA collection for example or that last couture. And Vaccarello isn't the best fit for Saint Laurent, he's very narrow minded in terms of design.

This rumour was there for a few weeks

I can't see it changing anytime soon. The cost of the rebranding exercise that only just happened will have been immense. I very much doubt they will go through it all again to revert it back to Yves Saint Laurent.

Yeah, but I can't take this rumour seriously since we all know that Karl is a vampire and will work for Chanel and Fendi forever  but seriously, it will be an open question after his death.

I hope the new designer of Saint Laurent won't change the name and will continue to produce couture, it would be quite interesting.

Great news!! I never liked Hedi's work ...

This made my day for like two seconds... I rather have Slimane as designer than Vaccarello

I can't imagine Hedi at Chanel, he would destroy everything. Chanel is so identifiable down to the font for the text they use on Chanel News. As Raf said "you can smell the Chanel woman from around the corner"-I don't think Hedi would get that. He'd want to change way to many things and brand's identity is pretty cemented.

He'd also want to change their boutiques, which are some of the best, and I couldn't shop at Chanel if the mannequins, with their little "CC" iris, were suddenly replaced by cement, tile and mirrors....

Has it been confirmed that Hedi is going to Chanel?

Why do I feel like Hedi is going to go to Dior? I have no gossip behind this but it just feels like a stunt queen move that Arnault would pull.

Yes, but one way or another, Chanel will require a complete re-thinking in the near future. Despite the fact that the house is spending tons on celebrity spokespeople and -endorsement, the clientele for ready-to-wear has grown old with Karl Lagerfeld and it will eventually require to be interpreted through the eyes of a designer that can speak to a younger audience. Whether or not that designer will be Hedi Slimane is another topic altogether.

There is no way in hell Karl is leaving Chanel unless he's being carried out of 31 Rue Cambon in a body bag.

I don't get how Saint Laurent would let him go? He's done wonders for their sales and has made the brand rather significant over these years...whether you think his vision is trash or not. He's made an impact and has quite a following.
