Heidi Montag: Addicted to Plastic Surgery

i think what is most disturbing is the CHANGE in her looks not the final result.. which does look ok if we did not know what she looked like to begin with :innocent:

Thank you *Bianca* for posting that episode of Oprah. BDD is an extremely alarming disorder. One thing I have grown to notice about many people battling disorders, from eating disorders to disorders that only effect your mental health and not physical appearance, is that they are usually very intelligent people without control of their intelligence. Though Heidi does appear in complete control of what she is doing, she actually may not be. Our sense of compassion to people in the public eye tends to be so different from that we would give the person next door because it's unlikely we'll ever meet them; where's the humanity? We have seen enough studies on a variety of disorders to know it could happen to anyone, yourself included. I wonder if many would feel the same way if she had no celebrity status and what saddens me most about the situation is that Heidi might go to drastic measures even putting her at health risk before this is acknowledged as a serious problem.

Also, as far as cosmetic surgery goes, I find it interesting how i can look at someone post-surgery and see their features alone as attractive but how more and more procedures just ruin their essence. Beauty coming in all shapes and sizes and proportions is only a statement that's effective when put into perspective and it's even more of a shame that someone (like Jennifer) can only see how beautiful they were after having tons of procedures.

Because most of us believe that this is another publicity stunt for Ms. Montag, an attempt to get herself back into the media spotlight.

Usually people with BDD don't call up People magazine, dial up the tv networks, and stage photo ops of themselves so the public can get a good look at their new size DDD breasts. In other words, Ms. Montag is a famewhore, and no measure is drastic enough if it means extending her 15 minutes of fame.

I kind of agree with the people who have said that 'at least Heidi told the truth' (even though it was an undeniable change). So much of Hollywood has been nipped and tucked to project the illusion that they're perfect people with perfect lives. Their sob stories only come out when they want to sell their movie, refocus the spotlight on themselves. So in a way, the fact that Heidi is using surgery to become more famous is just part of what people do in Hollywood more subtly all the time.

this article reminded me of the hollywood/celebrity/happiness/beauty link:

Woman wants Jessica Alba surgery to win back lover
January 27, 2010 - 4:27PM

Jessica Alba ... The look one woman is prepared to go under the knife to get.
A Chinese woman is so keen to win back her ex-boyfriend she plans to undergo plastic surgery to transform herself into his favourite actress: Hollywood star Jessica Alba.

The 21-year-old, who identified herself as Xiaoqing, told the Shanghai Daily that she had met doctors at a plastic surgery clinic in Shanghai who offered to do the work for free.

"I have made my decision," the newspaper quoted her as saying.

"I'm not only doing it for my ex-boyfriend, but for myself. I am a psychologically weak person. I want to do something to challenge myself and build a strong personality through it."

Liu Qi, an official at the Shanghai Time Plastic Surgery Hospital, said the woman would need eyebrow lifting, eyelid reshaping and nose reconstruction to look like Alba, the star of Sin City and Fantastic Four.

"There's no worry about the expense and it is technically practicable," Liu was quoted as saying.

"But the face-lift is irreversible and we hope that she would take it seriously."

Clinic officials confirmed the woman's story, but would not say when or if the surgery would go ahead.

The woman, who works for a web firm, described to the newspaper how her Alba-obsessed 28-year-old ex-boyfriend hung photos of the actress on his walls and stored her image on his mobile phone.

The man demanded Xiaoqing do her make-up as Alba does, even when she slept, and gave her a blonde wig for Christmas, which he asked her to wear all the time.

She told the newspaper they broke up last month when she threw her wig and fake eyelashes to the ground after passers-by laughed at her.

But afterwards, she said she reconsidered.

"I love him very much.... That's why I always followed his opinions. I don't want to lose him," the newspaper quoted her as saying.

^well said helen. i was just about to say the same thing. WOW.

What an idiot.

So basically he only likes her because she looks like Jessica Alba and shes completely fine with that.
Yup, she's an idiot.

Did Dawn Yang really look like the before pictures? I really can't believe that, if I'd seen the after pictures I'd never have thought that was the result of seemingly many, many procedures. I'm both disturbed and intrigued by her transformation.

I once read that the "cat lady" Jocelyn Wildenstein underwent so many cosmetic surgeries partly because her husband wanted her face to resemble that of a feline.

Yep, she's had:
Multiple rhinoplasties.
Cheek implant.
Chin impant.
Forehead implant.
Eyelid surgery (blapharosty)
Boob job.

Here's the root of her problem. I doubt anything good will come of that.

Yes and I had read that he cheated on her multiple times and she thought it was because she wasnt pretty enough or something and started her having surgery...

It seems like Heidi is going down the same 'plastic path' as Katie Price, and will probably never be happy with how she looks.

I'm not trying to be offensive in saying this, but who are you or anyone else to judge? No one knows for sure if this is truly her method to get back into the media spotlight, people are just quick to draw to conclusions just because of what's seen publicly.

um because they constantly brag about how famous they are? because they "wrote" a book on how to "be famous?" they are disgusting.

They are disgusting? Are you serious? Maybe i've missed something, but bring me back to where/how they are disgusting? Can you clearly elaborate?

this is so depressing, don't watch tv much but the pics in post 86 are so disturbing

are YOU serious? have you seen that i'm a celebrity get me out of here show? wow...just wow.

Give her 5 to 10 years and see if she still looks the same. 23 is WAY to young for that amount of plastic surgery.

Honestly, I've never known about her up until she had her plastic surgery. She looked fine before, but now she looks like a p*rn star now. The human body can only handle so much plastic surgery that it'll most likley come to a point where her body will start rejecting it. I hope she stops now.
