Help With What to Wear to a Costume or Themed Party

it IS catchy!:innocent:
I have to admit I did like it too:shock: . I'm just suffering of over exposure and a DJ bf telling me it has no credibility at all

^Well, if I was going to an 80's-themed party, I'd definately go as an 80's aerobic-instructor, just like the one in the video :D How p*rn of me. But that song is always played at clubs; it reminds me of good times and beeing very drunk

Baby doll dress and Doc Martens. Totally 90s.
(Or you could just pick your favorite Courtney Love look.)

Or riot grrl--wear a shirt that leaves your stomach bare, then scrawl "patriarchy" or something across it.

I'm trying to think of what I wore in the 90's....please bear in mind I was born in 1980 so dressed by my mother in the early 90's!!!

My early 90's
I seem to remember bicycle shorts and those awful coloured tshirts that changed colour when you got hot - seriously, we dont' need to know youre sweating :yuk:

Then in my school levi 501's worn with levi zip up hoodies were the thing to wear

Denim shirts - levis were the trendiest

My mid 90's
Grunge, grunge, grunge. Nirvana tshirts, army shirts, lumberjack shirts, combats, jeans, converse or doc martens

After a style evolution and an appearance from Madonna at the VMA's, satin shirts in electric colours took over dancefloors all over the country.

Late 90's
All I remember are boob tubes - I just started dressing preppier the older I got so I can't remember trends!!
Oh Christ and embellished jeans!!

And for some reason, those sweatpants made out of nylon with the buttons up the side that you could rip off just popped into my head  I was pretty sporty so I think I spent most of my teenage years on a tennis court in tracksuits - the glamour! B)

if you're dressing up like it's a decade past, you simply HAVE to do something funny - dressing in gucci or versace won't work. it's not funny enough. i'd say: grunge, hammer pants, oversizes sweaters (not in the good way) or grunge. go grunge. it's funnier.

I agree with .f, costume parties like that are about looking silly. I'd go with the baby doll dress and Doc Martins - maybe bring an oversized flannel shirt if it's cold ;)

On a side note, I can't believe I used to dress like that :yuk:

This was my "casual" graduation picture from 1995. Note the high-waistedness of those jeans.

My mom convinced me to leave off the usual 5-7 strings of bead necklaces and the enormous barrette I usually sported as well.

Bodysuit, high-waist jeans, chunky shoes, too many accessories, huge hair. Yeah.

I *still* like the look of a babydoll or sundress with Docs.

What about pretty-woman style 1990s? Niki Taylor style nineties? Supermodels... stretchy alaia or versace gold chainmail?

and then there was the underground...
ravers
grungers

and don't forget Calvin Klien and Tommy Hilfiger were the names to wear! A logo-ed up outfit would be tres apropos;

Airwalk shoes
Tommy Hilfiger Jeans
Calvin Klien underwear, showing
Chanel sunglasses Glasses with huge CCs
Some old school It bag covered with branding...

I have to dress up - I have NO idea - help!!!

Okay we're having "Karneval" in Germany. It's kinda like Halloween and everyone dresses up. But it doesn't have to be scary.
I'm looking for a really cool idea, but I just can't think of anything that is creative and innovative (cause everyone here dresses up as Angel, Devil, Cowboy, Pirat, etc.)
I want something special.
I thought of:
-Mia Wallace
-Sally (from Nightmare before Christmas)
-Corpse Bride
-Cupid (but that is a guy)

Man...I'm not really happy with those ideas.
I need your help! I know there are so many creative people here!!! ;)
