taper and high waisted = mom jeans
straight and wide and high waisted = gorgeous skyscrapers
just thought should distinguish , one is frumpy and the other is glamourous

tapered and high waste is not necessarely mom jeans: as someone put it, the mom jeans are more lose fit..i have very nice high wasted skinny jeans and they make my legs look longer and skinnier!!!
i think the tapered highwasted jeans is from the late 70s to early 80s as you can catch them in the movie "christiane f." and on michelle pfeiffer in the movie "in to the night"... love her outfit in that movie!

my mom has her closet full of old 70s "gorgeous skyscrapers" but you wont be seeing me wearing them, no no...

I see a little Katherine Hepburn, 1940's influence in these highwaisted trousers/jeans. They'd work well with wedgy shoes and long legs. They'd never work on a shorty like me.

well i dont believe in sticking to one fad, i like to mix it up. I own a pair of skinny siwy which i love and wear with my boots but I also love high waisted grey ant jeans, camel toes uhmmm, i dont think so.

yeah , thats why i love these jeans so much, they are boyfriend fit comfy and the high waist , makes your legs look long. Its a totally new look and silhouette , something which has not been done in ages by denim designers. Also i have been wearing hipsters for a decade ( flare, bootcut and skinny) and I WANT A CHANGE , seeing whale tales is sooooo gross!!!

I wouldn't mind this trend but a. the fabric has to be light b. it can't be too lose around the thigh, because i have some hips. c. can't give long *** syndrome. d. the right shoes have to be worn.
what shoes do you wear? I can't get myself into serious platforms and i don't like flats or heels either because the pants drag...hmmmm

i went to intermix and tried on the IOC high waisted tapered jeans , im a size 4, and it looked bad. If your like super tall and model body , yeah they work, and those gals are luck but with a straight wide leg ,it balances your butt out and the silhouette is more chic , elegant and wearable . The lady there said since the boyfriend look is the next silhouette many girls have been buying it .

thats a total misunderstanding , I have curves believe me, both my grey ant high waist pants and skinny siwys suit me , and i am not just saying my friends have told me too. I was like that too scared of misconceptions but FIRST TRY IT OUT and you will be like boy was I wrong. I had the exact same opinions like you before trying them on. Even Jlo has gotten on to the trend ( queen of curves ) she wore karen walker high waisted wide leg jeans on david letterman!!!

no sweety , those jeans are not for boyfriends haha that would look weird on them haha they are called boyfriend cut because they are rommy , haha that would be funny if guys wore those . Personally i think low rise looks good on guys and higher rises on girls , it gives em that hour glass look . thats what i think but the jean has to be cut properly either wide or straight or super skinny ( if your a supermodel it looks so sexy) . hehe

Maybe because they look like they were borrowed from a boyfriend? Dunno! Can anyone clarify? I don't know what to call these "skyscraper" jeans, does anyone who wears them know the actual name?
