How Do You Walk In High Heeled Shoes?

Reading through this thread...I'm awed by all you people who wear 4-inch heels on a regular basis...I die even in three-inch heels

Have to agree with the cheap shoes part...most cheap shoes aren't really comfortable in my experience

i wear 4-4.5 inch heels on a regular basis.
i feel natural walking in them now. my mates always ask how i do it but i dunno its just so easy now i cant go anywhere without them

there's a height limit for me.. i can walk fine up to 9cm, anything beyond 9cm, (even 9.1cm) I can immediately tell
poor me, there are so many beautiful shoes beyond 9cm...

slivi..the answer is no
no matter how nicely a pair of heels are made...after a day of walking..you would want to kill the shoes
that is..if you are wearing a 4 or 5 inch heel with no cushion

i love wearing heels..pretty much all my shoes are heels
but i will never do a 5 inch heel...4 is the max

Is wearing trainers/sneakers an English/American/East Asia thing?....i'm shocked at how many of you find it 'ugly' 'not fashionable' or a 'disgrace' could be a cultural difference i suppose....

anyhow, back on topic..i still haven't mastered the art of walking in heels..but i do wear them occasionally now. My progression/evolution of shoes over the years has been:

sneaker/trainers-->flip flops/sandals-->ballet flats-->platforms-->kitten heels-->2 inch heels-->high 4" wedges (wchih i know many dislike)-->3 inch heels.

i don't think i can go any higher than 3 inches...the pain is not worth it to me...and if i want to feel really tall, my BCBG wedges are the most comfortable high shoes ever.

i think platforms/heels really help you ease into wearing stilettos or higher shoes...but i think i'm the only one on tFS that is not willing to give up comfort for style LOL.

I think tennis shoes are fine-
for playing sports, or doing yardwork, or painting your house.
But not as a fashion statement.

stiletto girl: ok, that's fine. i agree with you about no sneakers for making a fashion statement, i thought people meant no sneakers in general....
well..i think converse is ok for a 'streetstyle' kinda look...and for students. i'm a student..i live in my converse on campus, and for outings like camping or sth.

Hmm, I envy those who can wear heels the whole day without feeling pain.

I just came back from an hour of shopping, and my heels are still suffering from the aftermath of it. Not to mention that my ball area is also painful and it's only 3" wedges!!! Will adding inserts of cushions at the base help?

I only wear sneakers/athletic shoes, flats, and sandals. But, then again I go to high school... If that's an excuse.

Since it's summer vacation, I've been thinking about practicing to walk in my 4-inch heels. But, they're not great shoes to begin with so...

What kinds of cushions can I put in my shoes to make it more comfortable to walk? They're about 4.5'' max and i have a high arch so it's a little bit more ok. Still, I'd like to be able to wear them more often. DEEDEE we could all use your help!!!

Do you think the ones at Payless are good? I mean "doctor scholls" or something?
