At the recent BAFTA awards ceremony in London, black TV presenter Ben Douglas was called him the N word 8 times by a well known fashion world figure, who he said was a friend of Kate Moss.

What happened:

Always a wonderful occasion, this year’s event was no different, and it was in a mood of relaxed delight that I stepped outside for some fresh air during the evening . . . and in doing so stepped back into the Seventies.

After spotting my companion, an elegant executive at a glossy magazine, a curly-haired man looked me up and down and then asked her: ‘Are you with him?’

His response to her affirmative nod stopped me in my tracks: ‘You’re a ni****'s b*tch , that’s what you are.’

Then, apparently oblivious to the wide-eyed shock of everyone within earshot, he went on to repeat the insult no fewer than seven times (I counted).

This was an elegant soiree, not a BNP event.

I said: ‘Excuse me?’
He answered: ‘Yeah, ******?’
‘What did you say?’
‘******.’ He appeared to enunciate the word with some relish.
‘I think that’s a bit off,’ I said. ‘Would you mind not using that word please?’
‘What, ******? ******? ******’s not offensive. Nothing wrong with ****er. I know loads of *******.’

Douglas also adds: "This fool thought he was bonding with me as a black man. By using the N-word (and for the record I would rather he had used the C-word – it’s that bad), he thought he was being fashionable. I believe they call it ‘street’.

Douglas didn't name the person as he doesn't want to ruin their career. He said the person was:

• a white, middle-class "curly-haired man" who's
  
• "a leading figure from the fashion world who numbers Kate Moss and Lily Allen among his closest friends" and that
• "this individual is every bit in demand today as he was when he was involved in his first Vogue cover in the Nineties"

A celebrity hairdresser has admitted using racially insulting language at the Bafta awards, blaming his "out of control" drinking.

The abuse came to light when TV presenter Ben Douglas revealed he had been addressed using a racist word eight times at the London ceremony.

Mr Douglas had refused to name the man responsible.

But James Brown, who has a line of hair care products at Boots, has now confessed.

^if it's the hairdresser, then it won't effect his career all that much, especially in britain. john galliano's words did him in because of how high profile his position was. there exist millions of hair dressers in this world. hundreds of them in pretty high positions in the fashion world in the different cities where fashion holds sway. but there is only one head designer of dior.
