What makes this all the more bizarre is that the woman he is hot and heavy with is a daughter (not his) of a former co-star he had a fling with back when the daughter was just a few years old.

This blind isn’t so scandalous, as it’s sweet but a little secretive enough we have to keep it blind and respect the actress and her future decisions. This B List actress and new mommy is enjoying her life so much, she’s heavily considering leaving fame behind permanently, moving out of LA and raising her family out of the limelight.

it was and still is really one of the worst BIs ever. :/

Will Smith was a popular name for that, but the top guess on the site that originally ran the item was James Franco - the website actually intended it to be about Franco. And anyway, it doesn't matter, cause it's a false item, and here's how it started:

PLAYBOY: What was it like for you in 2008 when Page Six of the New York Post ran a blind item about a hunky closeted gay actor who got nicknamed the Gay *r*pist? You were among the actors most often guessed by Gawker readers.

FRANCO: That was the first time I experienced anything like that. It started when we got this call from two rag magazines that said, “This guy called and said he’s been dating James Franco for six months and just broke up with him because James beat him up, and he’s filed a police report.” My lawyer said, “Run that and we will sue because there has been no police report filed.” They didn’t run the stories. My lawyer looked up the Facebook page of the guy I’d supposedly been dating, and it turned out he’s actually a young lawyer himself. Anyway, I think his Facebook page mentioned me as his “dream date” or something. Well, if I’d been dating him for six months, why was I his dream date?

PLAYBOY: Did you know this guy?

FRANCO: No. When my lawyer called and asked about it , the guy freaked out and said, “Oh yeah, I heard about that too. So weird. I don’t know James.” It stopped the story. Then Gawker picked that up and did this “Gay r*pist” story that was so ****ing offensive because I have friends who have been raped. They did a very classy online reader’s poll asking which actor who had a big movie out that summer had beaten up and raped his boyfriend and then paid him off so it wouldn’t go to court. The poll had me, Will Smith, Christian Bale and maybe Tom Cruise or some others, and the readers voted for me. Because it was just an innocent poll, they could report this.

So basically, a guy made up a story and later backtracked when confronted about, and since Gawker didn't want to pass up a juicy story, even if it's false, they ran it as a BI.

I think they all have people who make them aware of what's being written, pos or neg...even someone as big as Angelina slips up from time to time and shows that she knows as well, even though she constantly says that she doesn't read those types of publications.

I think that r*pe blind was pretty serious, so he was definitely informed. I think that's the case for most of them, the more serious they are or the most insulting, then I think the celebrity will know about it from their publicist.

Didn't he say that the mags called him up to ask? I'm sure that meant "called his publicist to ask," but I'll bet anything that his publicist was on the phone to him in less than 10 seconds all, "You didn't r*pe a gay man who then filed a report with the police, did you? This is something I can deny, right? RIGHT?!" So that's probably how he heard about it. (And I'll also bet anything that Franco was then on the phone to his lawyer in less than 10 seconds, all, "HOLY S--T TAKE CARE OF THIS RIGHT NOW RIGHT NOW RIGHT NOW OMG.")

ETA: I can't remember who it was now, but I remember an interview with an actor several years ago in which he said that he had to stop googling himself because of all the disturbing and mean things he would find. Ha.

I think the r*pe blind shows that some of the more outrageous ones are just made up. Like that crazy Toothy Tile one Ted C. has had going for YEARS. It no longer makes any sense.

I would also add the well-timed BIs that manage to include every rumor circulating around gossip sites about a celeb at any given time, wrapped in a neat little package with a bow on top, to the list of blinds I don't trust. (Sort of like the Blind Gossip Will and Jada one upthread.) Things like that are fun to read, but I'm highly suspicious of anything that says that every single guess random bloggers, posters, and gossip columnists have made about a celeb is true.

Ehh, I think it's a little more complicated than just making up stuff sometimes – usually it’s a rumor someone overheard but can't prove, or, like in this case probably, something the gossip person decided to make an assumption about - I think what happened here is someone from Gawker heard about the mags original intention to run the story, then that Franco had talked to the guy and stopped it, so they probably assumed it was hush money to shut down a true story and didn't bother following up on it. And then, there's the fact that sometimes rumors go through a dozen different people before reaching a blogger, and as anyone who's ever played telephone or been to high school can attest to, a lot of details are changed/missed in that proccess .

That said, and I think I mentioned this before, I do believe some places flat-out invent stuff. Completely agree with this:

CDAN and Ted C post 2005 do this a lot.

This B- list model is not used to actually having to do anything for the money she is paid. Oh, not for modeling, but for being a girlfriend. See, our model previously was the girlfriend for an A list rapper and he only wanted her by his side to look pretty so people would think he liked women. She loved the role. He finally got tired of paying though so she moved on to another rapper who did not have as much money or fame, but it beat trying to audition for modeling jobs. The thing is though her latest guy is straight and expects way more from the model other than to look pretty. At this point she cannot stand the guy but has no other options. Plus, she thinks she can get a reality show out of this.

Guess : Amber Rose

Although she works hard to present herself to the world as a wonderful person, this actress has a black streak a mile wide. She wants what she wants when she wants it, and she enjoys it even more if it hurts someone she dislikes. In this case, she is still pouring salt into the wound of the woman whose husband she stole. The woman has since moved on to a new relationship, but the actress just can’t leave bad enough alone. She wants the woman’s new beau to star with her in a movie. Considering that the beau is barely on anyone’s radar as an actor, it’s clearly a move designed by the actress to hurt the woman. BTW, although it would mean a big boost to his career, the beau will turn down the part out of loyalty to the woman.

This B/C list film actress from a series spent a summer as a young girl in Europe and allegedly had a baby from a fling there. She gave the baby to the father’s family. Ever since making her money in Hollywood, she has sent financial assistance to the family, under the strict instruction that child not know who the money was from.

Guess: Teri Polo

What former just about A list tweener singer who now makes her living being a party girl wants new breasts. She already has fake ones but wants to go bigger, because as she said it, "Lets face it. My breasts are the only reason I get hired for anything and I need to find a guy before the rest of me goes."

Guess: Miley Cyrus or Hoku

What former Housewife crashed a premiere party for another show and begged producers to put her on their show.
