It kinda makes me feel bad for Kylie, as if this was her idea. Sure, she went along with it but where´s the indignation towards Interview and Klein? this looks like yet another superficial way to deal with sensitive subjects imo.

While I do agree that both Klein and Interview have blame too (probably even more since it was their idea), ultimately this is HER magazine cover, HER name and HER image. And especially since Kylie's entire "career" is her public image, it weighs heavier on her side.

But I feel like it's almost hilarious to have expected someone like her to hear the concept of the shoot and think "Hmm, maybe it's not a good idea for me to pose in a wheelchair, let's try something else". She was probably like "omg yaaaassss that sounds like, totally edgy"

Who is the girl in the wheelchair? She's AWESOME! (unlike Kylie).
But Klein used wheelchairs times and times over so I don't really understand why the backlash now.
If it was really new and edgy I could have accepted it, but it's so tired and try-hard.

Meisel did the wheelchair long ago and much better.

Rianne is such an editorial tour de force; last month her edit with Craig McDean was probably my favourite of the year and this month I have no problem with her being up front and centre in this Baron era Bazaar forward looking throwback by Demarchelier. The pictures remind me of some of Kate's from the 90s...can't think of which story I'm thinking of exactly.

she already looks 35 and dont know if I liked any images of this photoshoot neither cover. she is better than kendall in magazine modelling and its just too tragic for interview magazine. they could have something better to bring on.

because we are in 2015 when anybody has to b sensitive to every other beings' feelings ... politcally correct era ! that's where we are ...
and because not everyone knows Fashion Photography History or were old enough in the 80s-90s to see these at the printing time ...

Social media has given everyone the 'right to reply' but has not brought with it any tools for helping people learn the art of meaningful argument.

So instead of debating an issue from different angles, it's always the sound of outrage, because everyone thinks they're entitled to be heard, whether or not they've given a second thought about what they're saying.

You've summed it up. It's the biggest flaw of social media, and I hope that we can at some point wrangle it back to a place where there is some fact checking and some consideration before speaking/posting.

It'd be one thing if social media simply was a platform to vent, and people took it as just that - but what I find endlessly frustrating is people's opinions and rants are taken and advertised as facts and cold-hard truths. People in the public eye are endlessly labeled as racist, misogynist, insensitive, etc. by someone online with little understanding of nuances and intentions and next thing you know - that public figure is wearing a "Scarlet Letter" for life. Not cool.
