j0anne, I have a PS1 from Jacky and am happy with the quality. However, I have not seen the real thing before. I did some search before I ordered and gathered that Jacky's Khaki and Black are close reps. One of the ladies ordered the yellow one and colour seems off.

I went to TPF and searched Balenciaga Bales..a lot of posts came up.
This is a general description of what a bale is...courtesy of TPF. There are also a lot of pictures there comparing authentic and replica bales, as well as Authentic GH, zippers, front panels, and all details that make Balenciaga.. HTH.
Bales
- Bales are the metal oval pieces that connect the shoulder strap to the metal hook that connects to the bag. If looking at a shoulder strap, you have in order "bale", "hook", "o-ring" to make the connection.
- Replica's often times have squared bales, which look more as a rectangle.
- Pay attention to the way the metal wraps at the end of the bale, right before the hook. This metal should wrap around approx. 1.5 times on itself and appear constant with all bbags that have shoulder straps.

Thanks for the clarification. I am a bit in a cloud -- I compared my NBF with the auth pics from TPF. I don't see the difference that some of the other ladies have mentioned. I think I'm particular about details too. What am I not seeing?? Thanks

For j0anne and everyone who is considering Jacky's PS1, here are some pics of my 2-month old PS1. Pics are mine.





The leather smells divine (still is!) and gets well broken-in and chewy after a few weeks' use. I'm not disappointed with the leather and make of the bag other than the strap, which I encourage everyone to reinforce. Baga also did a picture post on where else she got the cobbler to reinforce - think it's good to keep that post as a reference!

My bag is in medium. Somewhere within the Proenza thread, there is a post that compares the medium with a Bal City and a large Chanel.

Jacky's site is down? Shut the front door! I would have never guessed that would happen today! Give it a couple of days ladies and then try to google his email address. It usually takes a few days for it to start showing up on the search engines. *but there's nothing stopping anyone from emailing him for the new site - just don't expect an instant reply.

This is a thread I've learned so much from for several years, and I'll do the best whip-crackin' job I can. There's more than one reason why there's an SM in my name ...

Now. My little bagsters, I'll tip my hat to Gaga and be Mommy Bagster, since I don't have children of my own, but hope for some someday. So I love you all, but will not think twice if I have to swat you for misbehaving!

That said, I thought I'd also let you all know that I took my new-to-me Outremer into the Bal shop on Melrose, and although I hate the shop because the SAs I've dealt with have been lackey poseurs, they all went ab-fab crazy over my bag. It's like Angelina walked in. They were all up in my face and mooning over the bag. To me, it's an authentic. Different hands touched it, that's all.

Now you all behave. I'm off to Cosmoprof for a week, but will be watching over you!

I never really had a problem with T&D's bales until everyone started to mention them. Now they seem really, really off and it's starting to bother me.
I know they aren't that bad considering I went into BALNY and, like SMKelly (Congrats BTW!) was fawned over...
but now I'm contemplating if I should ask my uncle (he's a metalworks specialist) if he can beat them into shape...

Bales

The "bales" issue always bothered me, especially since I love shoulder bags.

With the boys, though, I've been forced--through my own neuroses of being discovered--to ditch the shoulder straps in favor of hand or crook o' elbow carriage.

Does anyone know if the boys are still doing Olive? I haven't heard anything from them other than "we'll put you on the list".

Everyone else - Has anyone mentioned the issues with the bales to T&D? Maybe we should raise the issue. I, for one, would purchase far more bags if this detail was corrected.

Sorta lost? After reading about the issues with the bales I went and checked out Baga's suggestion and went to TPF. I compared my NFB with the auth and it looked the same? It's not rectangular and the metal loops around 1.5x. Ladies, please, what is still off about the bales??? I read another post about a "dip"? HELP!!! Thanks in advance!

chukotka - there's a certain curvature to the auth bal bales that T&D bales lack. just browse through tpf especially the closeup shots of bales. or search on ebay as sellers post closeups of their bales. better yet, try to visit a store that carries auth bals. you can then see that and some other minor differences. HTH

Oh my...i this classic combination of Anthra & {im assuming } RGGH!
Do you think if we asked again {collectively} T&D they would really locate Rosegold H/W & possibly correct the bales at the same time??
The Rosegold looks kinda...vintage & not so blingy. I also have a B+S GSH city that i hardly use as it the hardware is so shiny
