Hi ladies and gentlemen,

Although many of you seem to be very anti-birkin, I'm actually considering getting a 40 cm birkin from omas I think they are the closest to the real deal. Is there any of you who have some experience buying from them. They seem to be so hard to deal with through emails, I've asked for pics and specs and they don't seem to understand english evry well.

TIA! (This thread is really super) Thumbs up!

Papeete,

Members are not anti-Birkin. They're anti-psycho/exorbitantly priced makers.

There are two issues at hand: 1. Whether a person is comfortable carrying a Birkin rep given his/her lifestyle. This has nothing to do with confidence, really but rather whether the bag is believable. So if I drive up in a dented, 10-year old pickup truck and emerge with a Birkin (rep or not) that costs more than my vehicle, how stupid is that going to look?

2. Pick your poison. The better the rep, the MUCH higher the cost. OMAS I've dealt with and I'll never deal with them again. Quality is indeed amazing, but not worth the hassle. It took them a year to correct a faulty wallet issue with me. There is one seller who does amazing work for $200+ and also does auth. alligator/croc/ostrich, but it's NOT branded.

A dear friend ordered a red 40cm from Joy and is tremendously happy with it. The stitching is fine, but the handles are slightly off. She doesn't care. She's wrapped them with twillys to distract nosey faultfinders. A co-worker, of the ladies-who-lunch set who has had the real thing many times over has gushed with praise over her bag.

Since the 40cm is not as often carried (auth) you're safer with it passing than a 30cm or 35 cm. And through Joy it will be around $200 as opposed to the $1,000 from OMAS.

am i the only one who panics when jacky's site isn't working...even if i don't neeeed anything right away? it's like the new arrivals are something pretty to look forward to every few days.

i am curious about joy - would anyone be willing to share the link? my birthday is next month, so who knows, maybe something will catch my eye!

Sorry folks, when I said "how stupid would that look?" I meant "How unbelievable would that look"

Did anyone email Jacky and received his reply of his new web address? I purchased several times from him before. I emailed him twice for his new address but he never replied. He was fast on replying my email when I did the purchasing. But why he wouldn't answer me when I asked his new address?

Could someone kindly PM me his new site please? TIA!

I emailed him saying I wanted to buy a specific bag and he replied quickly with the new address. Try that?

So since we can change the turnlock on the Alexa ourselves, is there any chance I can change the faceplace (where the tree logo is) myself if I can get Jacky to send me replacements? Mine had black spots on it (is that normal even for auth?). TIA.:flower:

Kaygirl, I have close-up photos of the hardware of auth Oak Alexa. If you wish, I can email them to you. Just PM me your email address.

2nd this. I e-mailed to ask for his url and got no response, but when I sent another message stating that I was ready to purchase a reg. Alexa, he responded very fast. :) I forgot to ask to ship an extra postman's lock for my alexa, so I'll probably ask when I make my next purchase - which will probably be the Miu Miu shoulder bag or prada. I'm in between Catty & Jacky's prada, though.

Just e-mailed the boys and my Galet RH City isn't ready yet, still. :( They keep pushing it back a few days, but they've said that it should be ready in a week. I am dying waiting for it. Is anyone else waiting for theirs?

^^ T&D told me the same thing. I've been waiting for my Galet City RH for what seems like an eternity.

I emailed T&D for my Galet PT status last Monday. They told me they will be ready by the end of the week. Now is closing to the end of the next week but still heard nothing. So I guess my order fell into the second batch? :(

Yeah I know your experience with OMAS and that really scared me off from them, but then again, I look at the pics, and every time I'm stunned with the stitches, engraving, details, etc. Very well aware that they might just be pictures and what I would get would be completely different too.'

I do have an Hermès lifestyle and I own several authentic Hermès objects. No large bag and cannot really jsutify the cost of a bag right now and aware what I can do for the money instead.

It's funny bout the car thing. I do think it's a very american way to see life. In Europe many people object to driving a car as it pollutes and is hard to have in a city centre without a private chauffeur. My father lives in a grande country house in a part where, winter time, there are no useful roads. That's why he drives a 20 year old Volvo and a 30 year old Land Rover. Cars are such a bad investment he always says.

ohhh lucy92 that pic makes me hungry for sweets, i don't which i want more, the bag or the macaroons lol
my friend's PS1 from offercn is disappointing :( not only the size is smaller than the original, the bag's kinda broken only after a week. look at the proenza schouler logo drop down.
and fang sent me an email on their rose gold hardware, i'm not sure about the details on the hardware colour because they didn't send me more pics yet.

source : my photo & fang

i was in HK last week and my friend brought me to a AAA replica shop selling Bals with the Rosegold hardware. leather and prices comparable to T&D (after much bargaining from my friend in the native language) IMHO, the hardware look v cheap to me - i hope T&D don't end up with those...

^^ ladyluxe, did you get to check out the Bal stores in HK & compare the auth RGGH vs the rep RGGH?

I saw someone carry an auth Canard City with RGGH a few days ago and the combination is stunning.

I will wait for T&D's RGGH. I need RGGH in my life!

I've asked the boys on the possiblity of doing the RGGH but they mentioned that its been tough trying to secure the right hardware..

Xooey - yes I compared with my sister's Rggh clutch :) the ones on the rep market looks v plasticky - like those cheap roadside jewelry... Then again, our suppliers always take time to get new hardware right - I will wait for the 2nd or 3rd batch! :)
