Yeah I know your experience with OMAS and that really scared me off from them, but then again, I look at the pics, and every time I'm stunned with the stitches, engraving, details, etc. Very well aware that they might just be pictures and what I would get would be completely different too.'
I do have an Hermès lifestyle and I own several authentic Hermès objects. No large bag and cannot really jsutify the cost of a bag right now and aware what I can do for the money instead.
It's funny bout the car thing. I do think it's a very american way to see life. In Europe many people object to driving a car as it pollutes and is hard to have in a city centre without a private chauffeur. My father lives in a grande country house in a part where, winter time, there are no useful roads. That's why he drives a 20 year old Volvo and a 30 year old Land Rover. Cars are such a bad investment he always says.
That's great that you have an "Hermes lifestyle" but many here do not and Shelley was speaking for the majority. The Birkin is hugely famous and, IMO the most recogniazble handbag in the world. For MOST of us, it would be a VERY big stretch for people to believe we could afford to drop $10,000 on a bag (or $20,000++ for an exotic). That's all she was saying...no one is questioning your lifestyle or what you can afford.
As for the car thing, I know people with millions (or in one case, billions) and they don't drive fancy cars... On the other hand I know people who are $20,000 in credit card debt and drive a Range Rover.... I agree that a car doesn't directly determine anything. However, someone who would pay $10,000 for a handbag is probably label conscious and at the very least is aware that a Birkin is a huge status symbol. Therefore, I believe that MOST of these people wouldn't be driving around a decade old truck with dents in it.... Your Dad may have a lot of money and drive older cars, but would HE buy an Hermes?
Shelley's reply to you was to explain that we aren't "anti Birkin" (because you stated we are in a prior post). I'm one of the many who has said I won't buy a rep Birkin but I'm in no way anti Birkin. I LOVE the Birkin. I think it's timeless, classic, well made and beautiful.

I don't think most reps are anywhere near good enough AND I'm under 30 and don't have tons of money. I simply wouldn't feel comfortable carrying around a bag that supposedly cost that much money.
I do think OMAS may be the best way to go if you're after the higest quality, branded rep. I just would be very worried about the lack of CS and quality control.....
Thanks for the info Drive. Honestly none I know is handbag crazy enough to notice an extra foot ---- but good idea to remove it. The stitching is more an issue IMO.
OMG that galet is gorgeous. I'm sort of tempted to get a netural grey bag now, I was thinking more a sahara or that type of color, but wow love the galet.
Catty corrected the extra foot a long time ago! Her Mahinas now have 4 feet, just like the authentic!

I have a black one from her and the quality is outstanding! The interior isn't as soft as authentic, but I have found this to be a common issue with replicas. Cheap material is, well, cheaper! At least it's just the lining! The leather on her black Mahina is beautiful and soft/supple.
Thank you for the pictures of the new bags everyone! It's so helpful to see what the different colors look like IRL rather than in studio lighting! I love the beige tones galet has! And I'm SO happy that the handles on NBFs are now consistenly perfect!!
