Hi Girls just came back from some vacations and wanted to show you my new and first Mono Speedy 35. It arrived 10 days ago and the vachetta had already some color, but my surprise was the nice color it took by being on the sun for 6 days. I bought it from Tricia a Philippine seller. :D

PinkPincess yr Hayden Tote it's so beautiful what a leather! Is that a swiming pool? OMG those bags look just perfect over the water, very nice!

Pics by me, 1º when it arrived and after with the sun,

Has anyone purchased a Damier Ebene Speedy 30 from any of the sellers? If so, can you give me your opinions on it? I read this thread daily but haven't seen anyone discuss this bag recently. :flower:

I got one frm Joy in June and I've posted pics in the pics only thread. The quality is amazing and looks just like the auth.:D

I'm not sure what the average age of people on this thread is, but do you guys think of a particular age range when you imagine who credibly wears the stuff we get from J, etc?

To me, I imagine someone who is above 25, or in another word be old enough to hold down a job that pays well enough to pay for luxury items. I've been craving for PS1 XL, LV international wallet and Hermes CDC for a while now, but as I am only 20, I think it will be very obvious that I am buying fakes.

I'm in my early twenties, and I have both authentic and replica bags. I also don't worry a whole lot about "believability," because here in Seattle, most people don't know or care about designers. LV is probably the only widely-recognised one, and even then only if it's got the logo splashed all over. I have an auth LV Epi Alma, and I get compliments all the time from people asking who made it. I'd say 9/10 are surprised to learn that LV makes bags without the mono canvas.

Also, I don't know about everyone else, but I have a real tendency to judge a bag's likelihood to be authentic not based on age*, but based on how the carrier presents her/himself. Obviously that's not an accurate barometer, because there are plenty of people in sweats with authentic bags, but even though I know it's irrational, I still tend to think the bag is authentic if I see it carried by someone who presents herself carefully. It's also not all about clothes; it's more the overall impression. Like I said, it's not rational, but that's how I tend to judge.

*The massive exception is Hermes bags...

amethyst_sparkle: Now I am so confused. I have been in contact with NBF and it was specifically for the quality reasons that you mention...especially for the spot on leather. They know their colors. I thought it would be a no-brainer when I was sure I was going to order a Work because there are no bales to deal with. :p However, since I am considering City, let me ask you this-- LOVE the RH hw, in your opinion, do you feel that since it will be darker and less blingy than the giant hw, the bale difference would be even less visually evident?

Wasn't it fangfang's bals that had the horrible smell?

xooey:  about your friend. That makes a very convincing argument! I honestly don't know if the bales would bother me or not...especially after hearing your story. Does anyone know of a picture of T & D's bales in the rh so that I can see for myself? All I have been able to find is the bales that come with the Giant hardware.

limmiet: Good to hear, especially since that is such a stunning bag! I love huffing my leather bags. Any opinions on her 'charcoal' grey being similar to a bals Anthracite?

SMKelly: Claiming discrimination? OMG, seriously? I have learned SO MUCH by combing through the threads, which has helped me to arrive at the extremely narrowed down decision I am at today. I haven't made it through all of them though, it's going to take some time.

That said..I do hope that someday I will be trusted member on this forum...I would love to be able to see J and C's stuff...expand my horizons on collecting different brand reps!
Mommy Bagster- Love it!

boinquo: I'm hoping a hip mom in her mid-40's falls into the range of credibility! :D

Crystal7: Supposedly they changed the formulation since then but I would still be real careful. I also used it on all non-bal bags. If you run a search over at the other forum in the bal section I am sure that there will be lots of ideas and updated info on the product. Regardless, I would test it on a tiny and out of the way area to see what happens with that particular leather and color. I do know that a lot of people have been happy with it.

Naiala: Congrats on your Speedy! Are all the details spot on?

ETA:

diormouse: ITA on the Hermes statement. For me personally, I don't care if someone gave one to me free,
I certainly wouldn't be able to pull it off. :p

Oh :( I think you girls got the wrong impression of my comment! I was suggesting the the bals looked different because the girls were of different build! Of course everyone has the right to rock a bal. I am barely above 5ft myself and I own a few works.

Good news from Catty!:buzz::bounce:She's going to make the Givenchy Pandora bag in black, patent black and grey. She says it's going to be available real soon!

Email her if you want more colors. I want beige!!!!:heart::heart:

Wow, I really like this Givenchy bag. Do you think that front pocket will hold and Iphone?

Just ordered a large black PS1 from Jacky.
Will post pictures as soon as i get it

The reason I asked about credibility is that one day I walked into the South Coast Plaza Hermes boutique with my *auth* Veneta (I'm 24 and have been working for a couple of years), and the SA was totally rude and made a sarcastic comment about my clothes and bag. Then she kind of followed me around the store until I left. I wanted to go in there and see an H bag in RL, but the experience made me feel like crap. A couple of doors over at Chanel, totally different vibe, and at the BV boutique there, super super nice SA's. I guess it's just Hermes.

I guess I would be more inclined to view the bags as authentic if the bag's owner were dressed accordingly.

I live in a place where nooooooobody carries anything, rep or authentic, at all. I think the only brands that even have stores in my state are LV and Coach. Yup, out in the boonies! :p

I agree with those who say its about how you carry yourself. I have always carried designer bags --when I was younger, I was stupid enough to waste my money on authentic ones, but I also dressed age appropriate and for the time period (tight jeans, high heels)--not trashy or sl*tty, but like the average early twenty year old.

Now I am a bit older and my look (most days) is much more professional (and chic- I hope). That has to do with my career (and the level I am at), as well as my maturity & evolution :o. For example - I feel like I am too old to wear skinny jeans, and I feel much more comfortable in a pair of cropped, pencil cut khakis, a striped tee & Chanel ballerinas, so when I walk around carrying a $100 great rep of a $2000 bag, it looks more believable..I think ..

IMHO

Also, Jacky said he'll be remaking the LV Sofia Coppola Calf Leather Bag in Cobalt.

I agree with you ladies - it's about how you carry it and how the rest of your look fits in with the 'luxury' of the bag.

I've had another thought - it's also to do with how popular a bag is at the time. If I see a bag that is popular right now, I know that every seller will be doing a rep of it and therefore it wonder think how authentic the bag is.

Whilst the way the bag owner carrys herself/ bag is important, the perceiver plays a part too. I'm sure many of us could easily spot a rep, when we know what to look out for, boy, do we check the bags out. There are people who simply don't care. Someone could be carrying a rep and there could be nonchalant women who would go "wow, beautiful colour/ leather. I want that!" Even if there is a fault, they may even think it is due to wear and tear or a goof by the manufacturer. On my part, I dress according to the occasion and carries what matches the wardrobe of the day. From bazaar bags to luxury labels, I have them all so it is not so easy for people around me to tell. I know someone who is a notorious scrouge and when she carries a Chanel, it is easy to raise the suspicion that her Chanel may be a rep. Because she doesn't even spend for little pleasures of life like food, travel, why on a small bag? Then again, different priorities in life I guess. :)

Re. the bales; knowledge is essential and can be a powerful and dangerous thing. Lol. I'm not bothered, I don't think anyone is going to come so close to me to check the bales out and announce formally my bag is a rep. It is a minor flaw, not overtly odd. It is good to know about the bales so we know what to watch out for if we are buying any pre-loved auths, in case any NBFs are parading as one. Like a few girls said, it is a good mark to prevent ourselves and others from being dodge by inscrupulous sellers, and to differentiate from the auths. Else, under ordinary circumstances, no biggie. Unless I meet some barmy nuts who start pointing at my bag and go hysterical because it is an NBF. I have my choices and rights too!

By the way, is B&S Tracy still in iOffer? I can't find her and if someone could give me a lead, it will be awesome!

Wenxin- totally on board with your post. I also agree that it's all about the "complete package." Whether it's correct or not, I also judge the authenticity of a bag based on how the woman/girl presents herself. I have a good mix of auth and rep bags. I always mix in my auth bags into the rotation which gives me an extra boost of confidence when I wear my reps. I'm pretty obsessive (ok very obsessive) about fashion so I always wear bags that compliment and parallel the outfit so I don't look off.

I pick and chose which "it" bags to buy. Some look timeless and classic (ie Chanel jumbo) and others just look "of the moment" and I avoid those bags. I don't want a bag that I'll toss in the corner in 2 months because it looks dated (ie. sorry but Fendi spy bag). And, yes, I am guilty of assuming a bag is a rep because it's an overproduced "it" bag on every rep site online.

Bisoubis - agree with your post :)

I have a mix of auth and rep bags, and I must say I really don't care who carries what.
I love T&D's bags not because they are the closest to auth you'll get of a Bbag but because the leathers they use are magnificent and the colours are just divine.
I can see the beauty in a fabulous rep with quality materials like Jacky's Alexas :woot: and to be honest, although I see many bags I love and want that are authentic, I just cant justify the cost these days.... I really can't afford it anyways, I'm a mid 30's mum to a newborn. I gotta keep my expenditure down! lol

Does anyone know anything further re: Jacky making the PS11 or that beautiful Celine box leather bag? I remember reading several weeks ago that he was considering it, and I emailed him at the time and said that I was very interested. Has anyone heard anything more on that front?

Jacky's Oak Alexa Comparison Pics (previous batch vs current batch)

Hi ladies, I've taken some pics to show everyone what I mean by the different leather type used by Jacky for his previous batch of Oak Alexa vs the current batch.

If you click on each pic to enlarge it, I think the contrast is pretty clear. Top bag is the current batch of Oak Alexa which I've just received just a few days ago. The leather is slightly textured/grainy and it is VERY SOFT and supple in real life. It is truly close to the auth, which I've tried on in the boutique.

Bottom bag is the previous batch of Oak Alexa bought in late June/July. The leather is very smooth and stiff in real life. The leather also has a slight shine to it.

Please be informed that the previous batch of Oak Alexas I bought also included a OS Oak Alexa with smooth and stiff leather.

Hence, my conclusion is, Jacky has changed the leather for his Oak Alexas for the better. Whether it's going to be permanent ... well, you'll have to take a chance with him.

One more pic

Just one more comparison pic.

New batch is to the left. Old batch is to the right.

See the difference?

I've also taken pics of my Hermes cuffs from Jacky. I will be posting them in the Accessories thread. Those interested, please hop over to the correct thread to view them.
