SMKelly - Have you ever worn an NBF out in the rain? I've been caught in a sudden downpour with my NBFs more than a few times (one bag was completely soaked!) and they dried in minutes. No stains, no discoloration, nada. They were exactly the same pre-soak. Treated leather (dyed, finishing gloss, conditioner, etc) can get wet and be fine (remember the countless times girls have washed their Bals in a sink and tossed them in a dryer!).
It's suede and untreated/naked leather (Louis Vuitton) that you'd have to worry about. I've found water droplet stains on my LVs that came from faucet oversplash
Thats why I travel with NBFs instead of LV, since an NBF is all treated, conditioned and tough leather (even scratches can be buffed out), whereas LV is untreated naked vachetta which means dirt, water, stains, etc will show up and can never be removed

same here. you guys know i do whatever the hell i want with my bags and they still look amazing. even my lightest NBF, a BL-tempete work has had coffee and wine spilled on it and there's no trace of either. the coffee was spilled while i was on a plane and i didn't even get to sop it up right away.

That's really reassuring, because I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on something in BDR, and that's the one concern I have (I'm also too lazy to order a bunch of new leather protection products too, aside from the shoe protection stuff I already own).

Thanks, Stellabelle, for the pics of Sahara--it looks unbelievable! That might be my backup if they're all out of BDR in the model I want it in.

On a related note, Kiwi makes a spray for suede shoes that you can buy in just about any supermarket in the US. I live in the Pac NW, where it rains ALL the time, and a can or two of that stuff has made it possible to own and wear suede in all weather! It doesn't change the leather color or impart any shine to anything--two coats and you're good to go. That is definitely an option for anyone who bought suede Velos from T&D recently, or owns any other delicate suede stuff. I recently wore some suede heels that I had previously treated through what appeared to be a monsoon--to my surprise they had not a single water spot on them after they dried off

No need to explain! Someone posted one from Jacky in the picture thread, the leather looks nice. But he only seems to ever have black.....and they sell out pretty quickly.

That was me--I posted pics of a black GSH Midday from Jacky.

While I think the hardware/dimensions are okay, the leather is really shiny, thick, and weirdly distressed. It's almost like the Rocco leather, only shiny. That was just my one experience with a Jacky Bal, but I would say that for that particular bag I bought T&D's quality is far superior.

Perhaps other people have had different experiences.

Yeah, don't worry about rain, but I think the bag IS light and it will show wear easily. So you'd still need to be careful with it. I ordered a City RH and it won't be my throw-around bag because the corners will get dirty easily. My Framboise shows wear, I've carried it a lot and still do and it's much darker than BDR. My Outremer is fab, looks new and I've carried it loads.

the day and darcy are about the same size. the day has the extra pocket on the outside which is handy for cell phones, etc. they each have one zipped pocket inside. for some reason, probably the type of lining, the darcy is easier to find stuff in the bottom. i think the studs help keep it in a square shape which also makes it easier to reach the bottom if that makes sense.

hobos are always a little bit of a hassle because everything ends up in the bottom but they are sooo comfy to carry.

I noticed there's a turquoise coin purse for sale. Do you think that means they're making the bags? I remember there was a bit of a campaign for turquoise and magenta going for a while, but I didn't find out the outcome of it.

PS thanks to those that gave recommendations for the bales and towel. I'll give it a go and report back if I have any success.

Thanks so much for your "rain" comments. And I have indeed taken the NBFs out in the rain and not had anything bad happen, it's just, as you mentioned about the delicacy of LV vachetta, I am gun-shy.

I am left with one, the 2005 or 06 cornflower day, which I do love, and that's fine by me. It just that, for a work bag (and since I'm usually at press/entertainment events where bag access is important) I like the "openness" and accessibility of this saddleback tote. I've only been carrying her for a few days but the compliments I've received from both men and women have been overwhelming.

Not that I'm an attention wh*re. But it DOES distract from my fat a$$.

the leather on these recent batches (moutarde, BDR) is absolutely, 100% ridiculously amazing...seriously the same silky delicate ultra luxurious that the april '09 batch of vert d'eau (chevre!!!!) is known for--but even better.

i got some CPs from NBF and absolutely love them all. olive, BDR, moutarde and the oldie but goodie raisin GGH. the new CP style is so cute and the overall shape is SPOT ON. i would say i love olive the most though, i got olive RH. get it while they still have it. oh, and they are making makeup clutch and the LIFE wallet, which i recommend eveyone to get one. cant wait!!!!
oh, and a BDR first RH, so fragile, but worth it
