Is Bare Minerals Worth Buying?

That's your skin reacting to the Bismuth Oxide in BE. It's one of the reasons I switched to EM; I couldn't stand the itching. I don't think it happens to everyone but it's not uncommon :flower:
Interesting. Thanks!:flower:
I do have very sensitive skin. I figured it was just that.

I had itching the first couple of times I wore, but it doesn't happen anymore.
Usually only when I get a fresh batch.

Can anyone help me: what is the best brush to use to apply Mineral Veil? I use the Flawless Face brush to apply my foundation.

You can use the same brush.
Or, I just like using the kabuki brush for foundation and then the flawless face for mineral veil, since you don't really need that much.

For all of it, the foundation, the mineral veil etc... The #19 face and body brush from Smashbox is the best I have ever used. It's softer than the buki brushes I've tried and it's an awesome multi-tasker.

Also is anyone else obsessed with pure luxe. You can get mineral m/u samples for 1$-2$ plus shipping. I never wanted to spend the money on minerals since I wasn't sure if I'd like it. Then I found pure luxe. It's really good high quality stuff.

So I really want to try using bare minerals but I'm just clueless as to what products I should get, etc. I don't ever use foundation, usually what I do is just dab on a little concealer on spots or if I need extra coverage I wear tinted moisturizer. But lately I've really wanted to try mineral foundation to see what it could do for me, and I've always heard that bare minerals is the best. I just want the basic foundation, something that'll give good coverage, but won't look too makeup-y. I looked online but there was so many different kinds. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I also don't want to go straight into the store because you know how they are...they'll try to sell you a million other things! So yes, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

roisin:

they offer starter kits, it comes in a cute box with a bazillion brushes and several pots of different products for a reduced price. but if youre a rare case that turns out to be allergic to their formula (like me), it turns out to be a huge waste of money.

from what you said, i think all you need is the foundation. to make sure you get the right shade, i would just go into the store and try to avoid the salespeople. there are only like 6-8 shades so it would go quick. i also liked their bronzer. :flower:

roisin, i'd highly recommend the starter kit, since it comes with brushes and everything you need, plus a cd to explain.
don't worry, it would be very difficult to look too made up with this make up.
everyone thinks i have perfectly even skin, even super close up and it does not show.

^ thank you both!! I think I'm going to try the starter kit!

your welcome. plus, i am pretty sure the starter kit comes with 2 colors that you can mix to get the right on, but even if you use just one, it spreads, so it doesn't really make you look like a different color. you will get comfy using it after a while, but for sure, swirl and TAP...sometimes people use way to much because they think it won't be enough- I am one of those! lol..
and just keep buffing around like they show you...sometimes, i just sit their for a few minutes swirling around without going back in for more..and you will see after a few minute you are glowing.

I would like to add another yay for the starter kit. When I first tried BM I went to the counter and had the SA apply the right shade, then I got a friend to buy the starter kit that contained my shade (fairly light) and a slightly darker shade (light) from the US. (BM is pricier here, and back then they didn't even sell the starter kit.) I got all the brushes and everything I needed to get started, and also, once summer came it turned out that the darker shade is a pretty good match for me when I'm tanned.

BM isn't necessarily the best mineral makeup out there, but it's a good starting point. Once one gets the hang of it, it's easier to try and figure out your Everyday Minerals shades or whatever other brand intrigues you, see if you like a flat top kabuki better, etc etc.

Yes. I love it.

I hated wearing foundation because it always makes me feel like I'm wearing a mask but this really feels like you have nothing on and has spf built in. Has great coverage and perfect for summer as well.

so i've been using bare minerals for about a month now and I LOVE it! It's so natural looking, easy to apply and makes my skin look absolutely flawless. If anyone is considering trying it -- DO IT!

I use it and love it. I have to wear concealer over my dark spots for better coverage but it looks so nice and smooth. Photographs really well and is fabulous when topped with MAC mineralize skinfinish powder.

It's so frustrating, i wanted to switch over to bare minerals and when i went to talk to the girl at sephora said they don't make it for my skin tone. I'm tan.. N40.

i was sooo mad :(

I'm thinking of ordering the starter kit -- how light is the lightest shade of Bare Minerals? I'm disturbingly pale, and most foundations look orange-y on me.

it's really light don't worry (the #1 fair shade) and the coverage is not heavy so you won't have any problems :flower:

I am also incredibly fair, and have had a lot of problems trying different foundations & I'm really happy with bare minerals. I'm using "fair" at the moment, and will use "fairly light" in summer when my skin darkens just a tad.

I ordered the getting started eye kit today, I'm so excited :woot: I'm a recent convert to the brand, and can't wait to try out the eyshadows!

B - You must try the glimmer shadows. You can use them wet or dry for totally different looks!
