Isabel Marant F/W 11.12 Paris

And now she's making Paul&Joe!!!
I'm really wondering when the real Isabel Marrant will be back...
PS: Balenciaga called and they want their Sherling jackets back!!

So anyone who makes a jacket with shearling on it is copying Balenciaga?
Give me a break.

Styling was a mess but overall I like this collection.

VOGUE

i'm trying to figure out what the hype about her is all about, this collection just adds to my confusion

If those stretch dresses are riding up to the crotch of the models imagine how horrible they will look on women with thighs.

I'm hoping they'll be worn with opaque tights, or leggings?

I really like the graphic dresses, the oversized jackets and the Navajo(?) motifs. Has a very early '80s vibe to it, which I like.

Good collection, overall, IMO.

Not so fond of the cut of the trousers (they always look a bit 'off' to me?), but then I never am.

At the end of the day, I think what makes this line popular, is that it's accessible and easy-to-wear, but still relatively luxe.

So, it's for people who would normally like and buy highstreet/mainstreet stuff, but are essentially just looking for a better quality version of it?

I think you've got to remember that not everyone is looking for something that looks typically 'designer' - a lot of people like the look of 'normal' clothes, just not the quality.

Also, her colour sense is invariably excellent.

It looks like a French interpretation of an American mainstream interpretation of Native American clothing. It's quite horrible.

Definitely in the minority here, but I don't see a problem with the boots. :ninja:

Have you seen the evidence for the comparison? It's disgusting.
This will sell well because it's easy to separate Isabel Marant's pieces into your own style. I feel sorry for the unfortunate woman who thinks she can make those boots work.

Maybe this stuff will look better on Rachel Bilson and Kate Bosworth when they raid the store for pieces in the coming months.

i think the boots are amazing...i don't know why everyone thinks they're so hideous. the whole collection is beautiful in fact. i'm very pleasantly surprised!

So much better than last season! Other than the somewhat blatant Celine and Balenciaga references, it's pretty solid. And no, I don't mind the boots either.

Not to defend the boots (because they're tacky as f**k), but they've been around for years. They're a very common trend and underaged girls with daddy's credit card(s) will buy them. Surprisingly enough, when Frida Giannini did them for Gucci Fall 2008, they were MUCH more luxurious and chic than these.

I can see how it will sell, but it is just not my thang. There is nothing here I'd want to buy. But, divorcing my personal views from my take on this collection - yeah, of course people will wear those boots, and that patchwork denim, even! And they will pay big bucks to do so too.

Can't fault Marant for catering to her customer. I prefer some of her earliest collections, though. As I opined earlier, I still think the best aspects of this collection are the winter whites, the knits specifically.

Well, that's just rude...

I expect, if we saw your wardrobe, some of us might worry that you couldn't make parts of it work, too?

However, I hope most of us would be far too polite to say so?! ^_^

I'm not a huge fan of the haircut in your avatar, for example, but that doesn't mean that I would say (or even think) that I felt sorry for the unfortunate woman who thought she could make it work.

Not everyone has the same taste and here, in the UK, we don't seem to have the same, permanent, aversion to fringe as many Americans seem to have (due to the Western connotations, no doubt?), for example.

Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean no one can make it work, where they come from.

i actually agreed with you on the balenciaga comparisons, but you totally lost me with the above quoted comment. the models in the show have really amazing legs...so they make the boots work. there are girls out there that not only have gorgeous legs, but will also really love the boots. just because you're not one of those girls (with the above qualities), doesnt mean you have to dismiss the rest of us.
