Isabel Marant F/W 11.12 Paris

^ haha. there are so many apropos icons but shock just seemed to be the nicest i could express. this isnt even worth getting wrangled up about because its such a flop.

boots like this are pretty tame, easy-to-wear and easy to incorporate into many wardrobes.

Therein lies Marant's general appeal. She makes clothes that are easy to wear and make women feel cool. She's also priced somewhat lower than most designer collections, it's accessible. In that sense she's on par with Philip Lim, but I like to think she doesn't try as hard. I think it's a really rather nice collection for the women who need these kinds of clothes -- which is most of them. She's not Celine or Chloe or Jil Sander or Prada, and she's not trying to be. She's for the street and of the street. Of course we'll see these clothes knocked off for H&M and Zara, but now as fast fashion's appeal slowly wanes they'll turn to Marant more than ever. I am not saying this is good or bad but simply how it is, or how I see it.

Those boots may be easy to wear... but definitely not easy to pull off.
Nobody can make those boots work...

ITA.

^ Why not, though?

I don't fully understand the hate on the boots. No, they aren't novel, they aren't cutting edge, and I would NEVER buy/wear them. But like you said, aren't they a bit of a classic? I mean, fringed boots? Don't act like we've never heard of the idea. I imagine a lot of women are going to pick these up and they will probably look and feel great in them. Better these than UGGS!

^ LOL!

I like uggs, too (LFA uggs, to be specific), actually! :D

But yes, exactly, fringed boots are hardly a radical idea, so I don't really understand the extreme reaction they seem to be inducing, TBH?

What you would wear at home on the range, if the range were say, L.A:lol:
