first picture led me to think something okay-ish would unfold, but somehow we ended up here.

First half is good, lovely knits. Then those bright colors come and it's just a mess. Arizona iced tea c'est pas chic.

Agreed! Especially the one Alpha is wearing in Look 6. Also like the pleat-style in Look 5, which so far seems to be all the rage for SS 2021. But everything else is mediocre. Looks too Mango for my taste and that's probably down to the styling. At least partially.

It’s hard to imagine that the person responsible for that is Barnabé Hardy, the same man who created Balenciaga Menswear with Nicolas Ghesquiere.

He is very talented. He is good with knitwear and he is a very complete designer...But much of this looks inexpensive. It could have been an Asos collection.

You hit the nail on the head. I would buy some of this BUT from ASOS. If you told me this was a curated sale on their site, I would believe it.

Really nothing to see here unfortunately.

I must say every time I see her menswear presentation it looks very nice and desirable but it doesn’t translate the same appeal on the ecom store
Well must be the pricing
Any recommendation for something more accessible?

There's something generic about it. Much of that I think has to be with the lack of Isabel Marant men identity. The Marant women have strong identity and she has been building that for years. The men department look more like surfer or skater boy. This looks at best ASOS x Isabel Marant collection.

I love Look 2 as a color proposition, and I also really like the sweater from Look 6. The rest is okay, but as others have said before me, very Isabel Marant x ASOS.

Exactly! She tries to transcript her womenswear to men when in fact, I believe the Isabel Marant equivalent in men is the Saint Laurent/Hedi Slimane type.
While women might see Isabel as a style icon, I don’t think they would want to look like Jerome Dreyfuss.

Is he related to Pierre Hardy who used to do the shoes for NG at Balenciaga at the time?

Not that I’m aware of and he is not related to Françoise Hardy either.
Haha it is funny, not to derail but he wrote a whole piece in Vogue in the past expressing all his admiration for Françoise Hardy. I never thought of it this way... I'll stop there XD

Agreed. A bit boring and uninspiring.
