Isabel Marant S/S 2013 Paris

Isabel has always been mainstream & wearable....please don't justify it as anything else otherwise...i've only known Isabel Marant as that type of designer to be....

All the stuff you see in the store similar to this, you can thank Isabel Marant for...cause those stores obviously knocked off her stuff....guaranteed.

She doesn't care about being dynamic....she designs what's true to her....I don't need another Miuccia Prada in the fashion industry.
I don't quite get what you are saying. When did I ever say that she wasn't ever mainstream or wearable? I was simply saying that she did her own thing. Even during the whole boho craze, she incorporated some of that into her collections, but she never let it take over her brand.

And as for her being the trail blazer for this kind of style/ Oh, please. It was Balmain who kick started that, and it was around the time she started to change. The short skirts, the leather pants, the whole '80s aesthetic. Could you please point me towards any of her earlier collections which had any of this stuff or at least anything similar?

Coming from a big fan but this collection is horrible. Not one piece I would buy...this could be H&M :ninja:

i liked her since she became more commercial and trend driven, (since around ss10 i think) and every single collection has been great up until now :( i don't know if she ran out of ideas? but the flared pants..they are so bad. the prints are so bad.

Wow... This is just disappointing! I've always loved Marant, but since S/S 2012 it's going downhill...

I'm not sure, I adored Isabel Marant in the mid 00s but if you look at her late 90s collection, it has nothing to do with her label 3 years later, or 6 years later and now, she did pretty much let trends transform the brand completely. In a way I think that was exactly her charm, that she was able to produce trendy pieces and give them a 'soul', there was never any vulgarity or exhausted themes, or the statement of uniform, she provided well-made, ready-to-wear alternatives that could last longer than the inspiration for them and that still promoted some individuality and spoke for her abilities as a designer.. sort of what Vanessa Bruno succeeds at these days, except the Marant girl was much cooler and unique for me.

It's weird seeing how all of that has vanished, not only it's all (client included) overridden by trends but it's also the most passé approach to trends, and then the worst of trends.

Well, whether she let trends take over her brand or not, at least the clothes weren't ugly.

imo her best collections are from fall 2009 to spring 2011

I have to agree Deango, Fall 2011 was the last good collection for me. Guess I'll just keep finding pieces from past collections to buy. I don't know, something about this just feels too light, and not in a good way. There's not much variety. Her fall collections are always the best though, so maybe it will be better in six months.
