Holy crap, I can't believe this! I thought Jamie was the smarter one of the sisters as she watched Britney go through mistake after mistake... But I guess mistakes happen, and I can only hope that Jamie Lynn will be smart about everything and be a better parent than her older sister!

Furthermore, Britney is a freaking adult with two kids of her own. Instead of people pointing the finger at how she was raised maybe people need to open up their eyes a little bit and make Brit take responsibility. A parent can only do so much for their children.

I agree to a point. I don't think any of us can put ourselves in Lynne's shoes, as a parent of two celebrity children. But at the same time, supporting children through the ups and downs of their fame means doing much more than a typical parent. She really should've seen the consequences that rested ahead...I mean, she seems to be a good director of her daughters' careers, but not their personal lives. If she couldn't manage both (And for two kids, no less), she should've discouraged their pursuits for fame in the first place, imho.

I do think a lot of things that occurred to Britney and Jamie Lynn caught Lynne off guard, but as a mother, the least she could've done was stand up against the media's scrutiny of her daughters -- and that's something I don't believe she has done enough of. Whether that's because of her own volitions or their publicists' recommendations/requests, though, are debatable.

At least she's still no Joe Simpson...

I don't know about the States, but in Canada, at the age of 16, your parents no longer need to support you and you can move out.

Do you think if her mother didn't let her stay with her boyfriend she wouldn't snick and sleep with him anyways? At least she knew where she was and she was safe.
You cannot lock your kids inside the house. Teenagers will have sex no matter what you do and birth control methods will fail in some cases. She is not the first 16 year old girl to get pregnant and wont be the last.

Well, Jamie Lynn obviously is by no means a good little girl, but this is the conclusion I've reached as I've seen people I know my age and near my age get pregnant...
As anapaula said, teenagers will have sex and birth control methods fail... If Jaime didn't use birth control, that's just foolish, but assuming she did the only thing that separates her from any other non-pregnant sexually active girl her age is that the other girls are lucky their birth control worked. I really wonder how many teenage stars/celebs get pregnant as well, and simply abort. IMO keeping the baby is such a bad idea but there are moral implications to abortion, and it really is her choice.
