Ehh....The Spears family is just a mess and I for one blame the parents. The reason I do is because instead of being parents they have turned a blind eye to those who are the "bread winners" in the family.

I am 25 years old and my mother and father still play a huge role in my life- it wasn't like oh when she turns 18 she's on her own- it was when I turned 18 I was officially an adult yet my parents still had my back. Jamie Lynn is only 16 and she's off doing God knows what and I believe the reason is because no one gave a rats **** about her as long as she kept bringing in those steady paychecks.

Now granted I understand that not everyone has been raised like I was but seeing as how Britney has turned out- one would think that Jamie (Dad) & Lynn (Mom) would have kept a tighter rein, a closer eye... heck something on their "baby" girl.

It always surprises me how seriously consentual underage sex is taken in the US, in Britain a 15 year old could be sleeping with a 30 year old and as long as it wasn't r*pe or pressured in anyway the authorities usually won't do anything even if the parents want to press charges (age of consent = 16). It's not unusual to see pregnant 14 year olds with mid 20's bfs on morning talkshows and no one points out it's illegal.

As for Jamie Lynn, well it's certainly not the best thing for her right now, but I do applaud her for taking responsibility and not automatically "dealing with it" like many people in her position would and do. She had a well paying job and especially if she's moving back to Louisiana then she should be able to afford it, not to mention Britney's money, it's not like they will be living in poverty.

A week ago everyone was on Ashley Tisdale's case for getting a nose job, and the example she's setting, at least she isn't getting a baby!

Also does it not shock anyone anymore that so many celebrities have forgotten the concept of having a baby in wedlock? Nicole Richie, Jessica Alba and now Jamie Lynn. Say what you will about JSlo, Christina Agulerea and Britney, at least they had kids within the confines of marriage.

come on.. 16 isn't that young. a friend of mine got pregnant at 13, and gave birth to a kid at 14. she's now 16 and both child and mother is fine..

luckily she had a helping family. the spears doesn't seem that, um. 'helpful'. though i only have an impression from tabloids.

It really depends on your situation but I don't know many people in America, anyway, that look at teen pregnancy fondly. Any girls I know that got preg in high school usually got abortions, gave them up for adoption or dropped out and started working...effectively ending their lives.

After the US implanted the abstinence programs at the schools, teen pregancies increased. It is proven that telling the kids to abstain doesnt work. Best thing is to be open to talk about methods of birth control and have the monring after pill available in case birth control/condoms fails.

children raising children has been an epidemic for so long....i dont care if a 16 year old is the most mature person ive ever met having a kid that young is insane. I remember i stopped going to church when i was younger then i went back to visit a couple years later and so many of the teen girls had babys. I can totally see the kids growing up and following the same path as their parents...the cycle continues
