I don't know... with Keisha Castle-Hughes, it seemed a bit more okay as it was normal in NZ-culture and customs... This isn't the same though.

Who is to say if she will be a good mother or not though?

I have to say that although I'm not particularly interested in Jamie Lynn and don't know much about her, this thread was so entertaining. Gotta love gossip! I think accidents can happen (BC is not 100% effective) and it's common for teens to be sexually active so I don't look down on her for this, I just feel thankful it never happened to me. And I hope she is a million times a better mother than her sister or her mother.

If any more stars get pregnant in the next week I wouldn't be surprised. Who do we have so far? Nicole, Jennifer Lopez, Lily Allen, Jessica Alba, ... am I missing anyone? Definitely not a good time to get pregnant for publicity right now though. The market for pregnancy news is saturated IMO.

come on.. 16 isn't that young. a friend of mine got pregnant at 13, and gave birth to a kid at 14. she's now 16 and both child and mother is fine..

luckily she had a helping family. the spears doesn't seem that, um. 'helpful'. though i only have an impression from tabloids.

Teenage pregnancy is still that: teenage pregnancy!!! Not a good trend for celebrities or 'normal' girls and boys to be taking part in. And 16 is wayyy too young. Babies raising babies is never ideal.

I just hope JLS didn't do it for attention...because with her sister and the current situation going on there, you never know

All I'm going to say is this: Anyone who has survived past their teens and early twenties will tell you that 16 (or any time during your teens) is way too young to have a child.

I feel very sorry for this very young and very confused girl

I do find this shocking. I will never think it's normal or understandable that a 16 year old gets pregnant. I subscribe to Andy Warhol's philosophy :

Parents who really love their kids and want them to be bored and discontented for as small a percentage of their lifetimes as possible maybe should go back to not letting them date until as late as possible so they have something to look forward to for a longer time.

Sex is more exciting on the screen and between the pages than between the sheets anyway. Let the kids read about it and look forward to it, and then right before they're going to get the reality, break the news to them that they've already had the most exciting part, and that it's behind them already.

I know shes not the first 16 year old to get pregnant and wont be the last...
but, I still find it incredibly sad.
A 16 year old who has to become a mother... Im pretty sure that was my worst nightmare during those years... and the fear of it alone was enough to keep me from having sex.
Anyway, I hope her family (!) will help and guide her through this.

What state is she in? Statuary r*pe laws differ from state to state... the age of consent in some states is 16.

If the two paired up in her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana, the "Spearminator" may be looking at up to 6 months in prison for misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile (a.k.a statutory r*pe).

California: Jamie Lynn is often in Cali visiting big sis Britney, attending award shows, or filming Zoey 101. Tough luck if she was. State laws forbid any intercourse between people on opposite sides of 18.
Mississippi or Florida: She attends school in Mississippi, and Nickelodeon's studios are in Orlando. If Mama Lynn wasn't letting the couple have "freedom" at home, they could have been anywhere! The couple is lucky if they've been restricting their pleasure to these states where it isn't illegal for a 16-year-old and a 19-year-old to get it on.
If Jamie is telling the truth about being 12 weeks into it, filming would be wrapped, and the pair was probably at home. So our bet is on Louisiana, which could mean a strict penalty.

I do agree with everyone that Jamie Lynn being pregnant is not a good thing, but I wish everyone would leave the ppor girl alone. People don't realize how many 16 year olds have sex...probably half of all the 15/16/17 year old girls I know have had sex, they just happen to not get pregnant but they very easily could. Even if Jamie Lynn had done everything right and used protection, she could still get pregnant. I just think people should give her a break, because sh*t happens...
