Japan-Bunka Fashion College

WOW that's the school I wanted to apply for, but then I decided to study here in Germany....! Reading this article makes me want to rethink about my decision...!!
Is it taught in Japanese entirely??? I've heard there's a Japanese langauge school for internaional students who want to apply for Bunka fashion college.
I also wanted to apply for London Central St.Martins (before I decided to stay here...), I never knew they made exchanges to this school, their homepage is a bit confusing.

you can attend Bunka Institute of Languages for one year or 1.5 years before applying for Bunka. 98% of applicants from BIL will get in to Bunka if they can graduate. ALL classes except for French and English conversation elective classes are taught COMPLETELY in Japanese

Are there any fashion university in Japan??

Hi There!

I'm really interested to study fashion in Japan but is it possible for a foreign student,( Im from Malaysia) to apply a fashion university??
Im currently studying Advanced diploma in Fashion Design and hoping to get a degree in Japan.

I know there's only a few fashion university that provides a degree in fashion. While I was taking a look at Japan-Bunka Fashion College's website it stated

Intensive Course of Fashion Technique - One year
Special program for bachelor or associate degree holders

But Bunka is a college right? sO it's require us to take the entire course in order to get the degree or what??/

i would suggest contacting the school directly with your questions as I dont think anyone here can give you a concrete answer. bunka is a college, womens university, and fashion graduate school.

 Woah! *bunka is a college, womens university, and fashion graduate school*

I didn't know that bunka is divided into 3 sections!!!!

I was considering an MA at Bunka, how long is the program?

hey. i'm interested in Bunka but what is the average age you can find in the class?

the japanese students are about 18-20 but a handful are a year or two older. Some foreign students are up to 25.

thank you! i'm 17 turning 18 and I aim to go Bunka after my 3 years diploma program. :D
just afraid that I might be an old student in class. heheh

so lucky of you to be in that school~ btw, how much do you spend on your daily expenses per year? and do you take a part time job?

sorry for asking so much cause I want to plan early. Hehe.
Thank You so much! :flower:

it depends on your course-
the design courses are pretty intense and I dont think there`s much time for a part time job. My course ended up being a little more lax so I worked just a few hours a week.

You could get away with $600 a month on personal expenses, but youll be eating onigiri everyday for every meal. Dont forget you have to buy fabric, sewing machines, supplies as well. AND its in tokyo--not cheap.

But most of all, know you have to speak/understand japanese at AT LEAST a 2-kkyu level of JLPT. I recommend 1kkyu of course.

難しいと思うけど、自分の努力次第だからね 頑張って~

wow, JLPT 2? i heard that many people retake this stage.
I'm just took my JLPT 4 just 2 days ago. Hehe. But i heard they are changing JLPT to 5 levels! :(

anyway, thanks a lot for your info!
im so motivated to work harder right now! :D

Tôkyô Bunka Fashion School

Hi everyone,
As my first message on this forum i'll talk about the thread that was my very reason to want to be a part of this : the Tôkyô Bunka Fashion School, which is a well know fashion school but not very easy to know more about ! I went on various forums to check if some people did talk about it but even here in this section I didn't find anything. I went to their website and even though they do have an english translation i'm not sure i understood what I wanted to know wichi is : How do you get in ? All i could find was that they requested ou to have a decent/good level of japanese oral and written comprehesion and to have enug money to be able to afford daily life in Japan but .. is it really all ? Does anyone study in it or knows someone who do ? I'm really interested in knowing more about it so if someone got a website adress about this school ( which is not the official page.. ) I'd like to know it !
Well, thanks

Welcome to the Fashion Spot, pluiie!

We already have a thread about Bunka ... so I am merging your thread with it. Maybe there's some helpful information in here already.

I have a question... does anyone know if it is possible to do a study abroad program at this college?
