Jil Sander Departing Namesake Brand for the Third Time

^lutz would be a fantastic direction for JS. considering the evolutions he's made in recent seasons,he could certainly maintain that purist quality but also one that could inject the label with some fresh, unique energy. i certainly know that knitwear would likely come back to the fore at JS under his direction, something i always admired about her own work. not sure though if he himself would ever consider it or if he would even be considered. to be honest with you, lutz has so much range and variety in his work,he could do any one of these labels beautifully and poetically if allowed an opportunity. i'm talking about MMM too.

I think Damir Doma would be a great breath of fresh air to the label.

Scott, donyan, Agreed, and not to forget Lutz is German too. I think that minimalist, constructivist, austere yet sensitive attitude came from the same place within Jil Sander. It's similar but different from the stark romance of Antwerp. Oh, too sad to even comment on Ann D but it seems a passing of generations. Now we have C Kane, Decarnin, A Wang, oh wow.

it's funny because lutz trained under margiela for the vast portion of the 90's till he started his label in 98….and honestly talking about it,i don't know many in his position who boasts that substance like he does. marjolijn van den heuvel is another good one. i don't know what's happened to her…i used to talk to her on facebook and last i saw she was designing for this label 'victorvictoria' but i haven't heard from her in a while or what she's been up to. she too had that purists quality and is a former MM assistant. but perhaps too unknown at this point to ever be considered for such a position. but i would love it for sure

Jil's partner Dickie Mommsen died a few weeks ago from cancer. So the reason for her sudden departure from her label really was her partner's health. Her death was reported in many German newspapers, and it was written that they had only few months left together and that's why Jil wanted to leave work behind. Sadly this hasn't been publicized in any foreign magazines. I feel some reporters were too quick to indicate back then that Jil's departure was due to her being fired.

well that was the rumour that was going round with many sources within the company saying so. and i certainly never believed jil would have left as suddenly as she did for any other reason but that, because she did seem rather ambitious and excited about being back again. my condolences to her.
