Jil Sander Men's F/W 2020.21 Florence

I don't know what to think about this: on the one hand, I am happy the brand has finally found a consistent voice...on the other I'm not sure this voice is entirely in tune with the brand values.
Minimal is just a generic term to describe Jil's work: it was also controlled, intelligent, rigorous, subtle...whereas this is slouchy, over relaxed, slightly overdecorated (and overstyled: what with all these man bags?).
Maybe these are not times anymore where Jil Sander's original aesthetic might have space and attention; maybe the brand was never able to keep up with Raf's brilliant tenure; or maybe the brand was forced to adjust itself to the prevalent oversized/normcore-oriented zeitgeist, but something crucial nonetheless went lost along the way.

It’s not amazing, it’s very trendy, very now but it’s chic and I like the fact that it’s less and less loungewear. This is for an active, stylish men.
Raf’s silhouettes were more timeless..
