Jil Sander Resort 2007

A little boring and amateurish-looking really. Don't mind the black suit with skinny pants or the yellow shift dress, though.

I don't think people here "get" Raf Simons. Raf Simons not only has an incredible respect for Jil Sander the person, the label, and design style that she created - he has the capacity to re-interpret it in his own way. He requested extra time from Bertelli to research the house's entire history, incl. archives He even travelled to several places, including Japan, to find the fabrics that he wanted to use in the collection. (see the latest Arena Homme + for an article on his first men's collection that mentions this)

Not only does he get my full respect, fashion insiders and critics have applauded his collection - maybe the designs weren't completely new, but the style was for the time he presented his fall-winter 2006/07 collections.

Not to mention, his pieces just reek of quality.

Raf Simons, he just puts so much effort in, and I think that just that deserves much respect. No matter what he does, I will respect it because of his integrity.

I agree 100%! i did mention earlier that he should stay away from dresses..but that was to do with the design..nothing new..but the fabrics and quality are always top notch. no less respect from me for Mr simons.. i have very high regard for him actually..

This collection is rather...plain, isn't it? I'm sure the fabrics are wonderful-feeling, but they don't really look very special to me, the untrained eye. And unlike those dresses, the skinny suit looks really nice.

Whenever I look at his design, I just keep thinking 1)Either the model is tooooo skinny or 2) The dress just doesn't' fit the woman figure quite right. but I do love his suits. Icy is bling, huh?

not too appealing imo. esp that blue dress in the first post it makes the model look pregnant. the fabrics looks very nice. some cool colors.

ok, ok..i respect the "getting old customer back" sitution. iike the GAP trying to bring back their "basics" customer. but it the customer is supposed to be older, wiser, and more modest, i don't see a reason for this pretty young collection. or at least not the slim cut pants and sheer top..

but arturo, you made a good comment. i never would have guessed simons is so obsessive about fabrics, i love to learn. go tfs!

He is not a natural womenswear designer. These pieces all reek mid 90's in everyway. Not even Sander left doing such simplistic pieces. I still have alot of faith in him, but he needs to catch up. Simply put, what is there to copy or emulate? Nothing.

Very lesbian. Normally, I love lesbian--but this is tired lesbian, not exciting lesbian.

lesbian business women are the core of Jil Sander's income & clientele.

Anyone know whatever happend to Jil's lesbian stalker psycho lady?

I don't understand how those looks posted in the first few posts are part of the collection indicated in #32? The latter are much better. Quite disappointed going by the first few looks - he doesn't seem to "get" womens wear. Jil Sander did minimalist but also feminine, whimsical, cute (girlish even) clothes. Her ethereal white dresses were incomparable. He should learn something from Veronique Branquinho, whom I think is the more suitable modern designer for JS women.

Hate hate hate the blue dress, there's a few nice things - I like the yellow dress quite a bit.

impressed, no. i don't hate it, it just doesn't do anything for me. i don't really find the cuts to be very flattering. but, that's just me. :)
