He must be rolling over in his grave, with what Galliano has turned his label into.

Well Galliano is a little bit dramatic and out there, but when he makes real couture he's doing some incredible pieces...He has talent (loads of), but he's more whimsical.

I know Mr. Galliano is very bad, but lets not mention him in this thread for he is not worthy.

^

Galliano is not bad, he just has such an odd view for the house... I mean, Monsieur Dior was unconventional for the fifties, but I get the feeling that Galliano's work will be unconventional for people in the year 3050, not to mention now. He just tries too hard sometimes.

I believe that, if ever I was going to some huge gala or awards, I would ask Galliano to make me an exact copy of the "Junon" dress :crush:

i think what Galliano doing is nothing outrageous compared to Dior's time
at least Galliano is only confronted by PETA

i saw a photo of Dior's new look ripped into pieces by housewifes in the middle of the street..pretty shocking...i can't find the pic anymore

Very Bad?????
A lot of People judge him because they dont understand the pieces
he shows in catwalk

But have you see the exquisite pieces
he does direct for the stores?

How you can say that
Galliano gave the Dior house
the energy and the beauty
to survive in this Century
keepin`the spirit of Mr. Dior

Mr. Dior, who in his epoque was a revolucionary
(and there were a lot of people who
didnt understand his work and his revolucionary lines)
would be proud of
what is his label these days
simply
the best
:brows:

god!!! how could john galliano destroy such beautiful things like this? dior is awful like it is now!

lol...that blue ball gown is not by Dior. it's by Galliano..

Am i right?

Wow. Such scandal...
On the other hand, I love both gowns in post #47, eventhough one is Galliano. It does not seem so far from what Dior himself would do.

Hmm...this thread is about Dior NOT Galliano, right? Give it a rest already...or make another thread...or comment in the Galliano thread...but I'd love to read opinions on Christian Dior and his work, not John Galliano and his work...This thread is not about the fashion house of Dior, but of the designer Christian Dior.
You have a point. However, I personally don't see anything wrong with mentioning Galliano in this thread, given that his Dior creations are a far cry from the elegance and sophistication of the original Dior couture.

A lot of young people today have little or no knoweldge of the history of the Dior label. Their knowledge of Dior only goes as far as Galliano's ridiculous "artistic" couture getups.

The reason should be pretty obvious Yimi
Your and others off-topic posts in the Christian Dior 1905-1957 thread are the reason why we now have this thread.

Personally, Christian Dior now...I dont think its a case of it being unconventional, or shocking, i just think it should be labelled unwearable? Because what he doesnt isnt shocking, its just theatrical, and anyway, I dont think the clothes, under all the dramatic, are as bad as they seem. Also, I doubt they would sell the actual runway items, if a client wants a black dress they ask for it, they dont have to wait for it to be on the runway, and at times I have to admit Galliano is very good for Dior, just sometimes his work gets over shadowed by the theatrics. And admitting some of the runway stuff is a little OTT, it does sell well for magazines, and I doubt the likes of LVMH care if people think its unwearable or whatever seeing as Dior's profits are booming, because dior makes money from luxury goods etc. Ok I must stop here before I babble on...[I love Galliano and Dior threads + peoples different opinions] :flower:

This thread would be lovely
if this just
would be
Monseiour Christian Dior AND John Galliano
that VS word sounds like a figth
:boxer:

You think Chanel would want Lagerfeld to design for her name! She would never want a man to be a creative designer for Chanel. Face it, before John Galliano, the Christian Dior label was struggling, and now as Mr. Arnault says, Dior is "superstar status" a household name. And as I mention in other threads, John Galliano will be remembered for his work with the Dior label than Christian Dior himself!!! I look at Galliano's work as paying HOMAGE to Dior rather than defacing Dior's name!!!

JR1:heart: , my dear, first Elie Saab, now Dior (Christian, John), i must say your taste is exquisite!! (not because it's similar to mine:lol: ). I 100% agree with you, and besides if you look at the RTW that Galliano makes for Dior you will see he's inspired from Dior's designs. He has done some really good pieces. But Couture for him is play time, he wants to be OTT and he wants to provoke, he wants to do ART not fashion, ART. I think that he's totally misunderstood.
