John Galliano: an heir for Christian Dior ?

or maybe good taste?

It's not any harder now than it was before to make innovations in fashion, it's just that Galliano isn't the one doing it.

An endless list of Belgian and Japanese designers point to creative talents who are indeed pushing clothing forward.

Not that good taste has ever had anything to do with real rock stars, but I find it pretty boring that most men are so preoccupied with just looking strict, professional and boring instead of working on their SA. It's just part of our culture - women spend a good part of their day dressing up and men consider it unmanly to do so...just that same old story. Quite boring. But yeah, it's probably just the world's preoccupation with good taste that is the explanation behind that exhibisionistic female celebs garnish themselves with neons and sequins when they're not putting up their crotches on display as a good publicity stunt while celeb men are almost never exposed or on display in the same way.

As for originality - obviously, once it wasn't illegal to show a good part of your legs, that opened up for a whole new universe of designs to explore. That's just obvious. The same thing with science - it's always about being the right person at the right time at the right place. Some ideas are rather obvious to the creatively minded once a certain paradigm shift has occurred, and the people who are in the right crowd at the right time will reap the harvest.

That doesn't mean, and I never said, that there aren't functional, novel designs out there. But a lot of them will be bottom of the barrell stuff, that's all, meaning that while it may be novel, it doesn't look any good.

lol I know I just wanted to be annoying. Surprisingly enough though, I really like John Galliano's own line, it's so cool. But I hate Dior. I just realised John Galliano has the same initials as I do!

^ omg that video

"What do you think of the current collections at Dior?"

"...No comment"
